Donald Trump shed some light on the firing of his former campaign manager Corey Lewandowksi that set the Internet a buzz on Monday.
Video from Fox News.
The presumptive Republican nominee parted ways with Lewandowski following an emergency meeting.
Though Lewandowski did a great job, Trump said it’s now time for “a different kind of a campaign.”
“With Corey, I’m really proud of him,” Trump told Fox News host Bill O’Reilly on “The O’Reilly Factor” on Monday. “He did a great job, but we’re going to go a little bit of a different route from this point forward.”
Confirming that the campaign would have “a little different style,” Trump also praised Lewandowski as a “talented person” and a “good guy.”
“We ran a small, beautiful, well-unified campaign. It worked very well in the primaries,” Trump said, noting how small his staff is compared to that of Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
“I have 73 people. Hillary Clinton has, like almost 900 people and we’re in the same position,” he said. “I’ve spent much less money than her, and the result so far is the same.”
