With Americans pushing back on the “bathroom wars” now sweeping the country as a result of a pro-transgender decree from the White House, is President Barack Obama walking back his directive?

Perhaps looking to avoid being further mocked?

While speaking at a town hall in Elkhart, Ind., the most divisive president since Richard Nixon had the audacity to lecture the country about pitting folks against each other.

“We’ve got to stop pitting working Americans against each other,” the divider in chief said.

Identity politics defines his administration, with LGBT rights taking front and center, but Obama denied Wednesday that he made transgender bathroom choice an issue, saying “there are a lot of things that are more pressing.”

From CBS News White House correspondent Mark Knoller:

While Obama and his media allies may live in an alternate universe, infuriated social media users were quick to note that they know the truth.
