Death threats have been leveled at Nevada’s Democratic Party chairwoman following the chaos that erupted at the state’s convention over the weekend.
Supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders are being blamed for disrupting the event on Saturday when they were angered by the Party’s process.
Since the weekend, Chairwoman Roberta Lange has received voicemails and texts with obscene death threats, according to The Hill.
Nevada political reporter Jon Ralston posted audio from a sampling of the voicemails as well as copies of some of the texts on his website on Tuesday.
“I just wanted to let you know that I think people like you should be hung in a public execution to show this world that we won’t stand for this sort of corruption,” said one caller who, amazingly, left his phone number. “You are a sick, twisted piece of sh– and I hope you burn for this!”
“You should be ashamed and disgraced. You need to step down from that position because you are bad for America and bad for the Democratic Party,” said another, who also called Lange a “f—ing corrupt bitch.”
Lange was called an “old, old hag” in another message and one caller said, “You deserve to be in prison, not the chairman for the Democratic Party. Rot in Hell.”
Nevada’s state party filed a complaint with the Democratic National Committee on Tuesday, the Hill reported.
