Megyn Kelly’s husband said it has been a difficult year watching his wife handle the feud with Donald Trump, but it appears to have made their relationship even stronger.
New York Times bestselling author, Douglas Brunt said he and his wife, Fox News host of “The Kelly File” were “in the bunker for nine months” following Kelly’s famous confrontation with Trump last fall during the first Republican debate.
Though watching Trump and his supporters attack Kelly over the months was “frustrating,” Brunt shared on “OutNumbered” on Monday that the presumptive GOP nominee was unable to break her.
“Through this whole campaign season, Trump has been masterful at knocking people off-balance,” Brunt said, noting that Kelly was the exception.
“She stayed on the high road. She maintained dignity, never engaged and kept her eye on the ball the whole way,” he said of his wife. “She’s the most prepared person in the business, she’s smart.”
Kelly said she is blessed to have her husband, whom she says is her “first line of defense in everything.” She added that she has had a team behind her in the past months that have helped her steer the course through the Trump controversy.
Kelly’s sit-down interview with Trump will be presented in “Megyn Kelly Presents” on the FOX Broadcast Network on Tuesday, May 17 at 8:00pm ET.
