The power of social media was never more apparent than Monday when MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough responded to a comment from GOP presumptive nominee Donald Trump in real-time.
Upon returning from a break, “Morning Joe” panelist Mark Halperin read aloud a disparaging comment the real estate tycoon had just tweeted about the show:

The once cozy relationship between Trump and Scarborough took a turn for the worst on Friday when they went to war on Twitter after the candidate took Scarborough to task for “pushing hard for a third-party candidate to run.”
“What have we went wrong about?” co-host Mika Brzezinski asked in response to Trump’s charge.
“When did he say he wasn’t going to watch the show? Scarborough chimed in. “I must have missed that one,”
“Maybe privately,” Halperin replied, before adding, “I bet he watches.”
“Maybe he said it to himself,” Scarborough said. “You know what? He watches. He watches!”
Turning to the camera, Scarborough then responded as if he was talking directly to Trump.
“How you doing, Donald? It’s very funny when you say you don’t watch the show,” he remarked. “I think it’s cute. Keep it up. It makes us feel good that you care that much that you tweet about us.”
Scarborough then got a further dig in against the candidate.
“[Trump’s] still at a time when he needs to grow and move into the general election,” the MSNBC co-host said. “He’s still picking petty fights with people he shouldn’t be fighting.”
