Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank is about to eat his words — literally.
Milbank promised in October to eat a print copy of his column if Donald Trump won the GOP presidential nomination and … well, the presumptive nominee is now all but there.
“I’m so certain Trump won’t win the nomination that I’ll eat my words if he does,” he wrote. “Literally: The day Trump clinches the nomination I will eat the page on which this column is printed in Sunday’s Post.”
The columnist went on to say that “Americans are better than Trump,” but it turns out, as Milbank sees it, they’re not.
And Milbank intends to keep his word.
Following Trump’s huge win Tuesday in Indiana, which forced his remaining two rivals out of the race, a video was released featuring Milbank standing in a kitchen with an apron on.
“I sent out a call for your favorite recipes for eating newspaper,” he tells viewers, “and you came through on Facebook, Twitter, in the comments section and in emails. Through this form of crowd-sourcing, we found that not only can it be palatable to eat newspapers, it can be downright mouthwatering.”
The course serving is set for May 12… bon appetit!
