The White House has no problem with the “N-word.”
Comedian Larry Wilmore seized the opportunity to make headlines, and called President Obama his n***** at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner on Saturday.
His calculated statement came after some seemingly heartfelt praise for Obama being the first black president. But, that all was pretty much thrown out the window as soon as the N-word surfaced.
Yo, Barry, you did it, my n***a!’ Wilmore said.
Decent people everywhere thought the joke was classless at best and not at all appropriate at a neighborhood BBQ, let alone at the White House. Even race-baiting Al Sharpton called it “poor taste.”
But not the White House.
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said the president “appreciated the spirit of the sentiments” expressed by Wilmore, according to the Daily Mail.
“He was seeking to be provocative, but I think any reading of his comments makes clear that he was not using the president of butt of his joke.”
“I’m confident that Mr. Wilmore used the word by design.” Earnest said.
Gee, ya think?
