‘No doubt state of New York IS in play with Donald Trump,’ says first GOP Congress member to endorse

Rep. Chris Collins became the first sitting member of Congress to endorse Donald Trump, and the New York lawmaker is confident that his state will turn out for the New York businessman.

“Donald Trump has clearly demonstrated that he has both the guts and the fortitude to return our nation’s jobs stolen by China, take on our enemies like ISIS, Iran, North Korea and Russia, and most importantly, re-establish the opportunity for our children and grandchildren to attain the American Dream,” Collins said in a statement on Wednesday. “That is why I am proud to endorse him as the next president of the United States.”

Collins explained the political dynamics of the state in an interview on Fox News’ America’s Newsroom, telling the host, “I have no doubt that the state of New York is in play with Donald Trump as nominee.”

Describing the last ten years as a state of attack, he said that the people are fed up because of “jobs that have been stolen and shifted to China.”

“Our industry base has been devastated,” Collins said. “Our population in the city of Buffalo is one of the poorest in the nation just after Detroit … It comes back to his slogan, ‘Make America Great Again.’”
