Should mommy fight his battles? Pundit suggests Jeb ‘unleash’ his ‘mean’ mama on Trump

John Heilemann, co-host of Bloomberg Television’s “All Due Respect,” not only called former first lady Barbara Bush a “mean” person, but went so far as to say he’d like to see Jeb Bush’s campaign “unleash” her on Donald Trump.

As Media Research Center’s Mark Finkelstein inquired, can you imagine the meltdown in the media if a conservative pundit called first lady Michelle Obama “mean” and suggested President Obama “unleash” her on an opponent?

Heilemann was discussing a new ad released this week by the Bush campaign featuring the candidate’s mother. In the spot, Mrs. Bush takes a not-so-veiled shot at Trump.

“When push comes to shove, people are going to realize Jeb has real solutions rather than talking about how popular they are, how great they are,” the former first lady says at one point.

And with that, Heilemann was off.

“Everyone looked at her as this kind of lovely, matronly kind of figure, and we all know that in fact inside the White House she was as mean and tough as anyone,” he said.

“She went negative on Donald Trump there without any fear,” Heilemann continued. “I’d like to see the campaign actually unleash her on Trump. She might be the one who’s best able to stand up to him.”
