Linda Bean fires back at anti-Trump bullies fueling L.L. Bean boycott, then Donald Trump weighs in

An L.L. Bean board member is standing her ground against liberal “bullies” calling for a boycott of the company.

Linda Bean, the granddaughter of the company’s founder, told  “Fox & Friends” on Thursday that she is being targeted because she donated to a pro-Donald Trump PAC during the presidential campaign.

The left-wing website is calling for a boycott of L.L. Bean, the outdoor apparel retailer founded in 1912 by Leon Leonwood Bean, because of the donation by Linda Bean, who is one of the company’s 50 co-owners.

The bullying is being driven by a “small kernel of hardcore bullies out in California trying to control what we do, what we buy, what we sell in Maine,” Bean said.

In a statement, the Maine-based company said they were “deeply troubled” by the boycott effort which they called “misguided.”

“L.L.Bean does not endorse political candidates, take positions on political matters, or make political contributions. Simply put, we stay out of politics. To be included in this boycott campaign is simply misguided, and we respectfully request that Grab Your Wallet reverse its position,” read the statement by Executive Chairman Shawn Gorman on Facebook.

President-elect Donald Trump thanked Bean in a tweet on Thursday, calling on Americans to support the company.

Bean explained that her campaign donation had nothing to do with the company and she only spoke for herself, noting that there was no outcry when the CEO of L.L. Bean, her cousin, supported President Obama four years ago.

“It’s a double standard. Both these guys won,” Bean said. “My cousin’s candidate and my candidate. But I’m the one who’s being targeted and vilified and asked to be taken off the board.”

Bean is not intimidated by the blacklisting, however, and Twitter users cheered her on.
