CNN called out the “completely false” speculation circling online about its live broadcast of Donald Trump’s Butler, PA rally last July.
The discussion began circulating after Joe Rogan questioned the network’s coverage of the rally where an assassination attempt was made on the then-Republican presidential candidate.
“You also know that CNN streamed it live, which I do not believe they did for any other rally — and certainly not for a rally in the middle of nowhere in Pennsylvania,” the host of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast said to his guest Elon Musk.
“Like, there’s a lot of weird sh-t,” he added during the three-hour interview with the billionaire as they discussed several theories.
“CNN provided live coverage of President Trump’s Butler, PA, rally in anticipation of news about his pick for Vice President,” CNN communications replied on X as the Rogan clip was posted by others, and some X users offered their own thoughts on the topic. “Any suggestion contrary to that fact is completely false.”

“What are the chances @CNN was tipped off to stream the Butler rally?” billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman wrote on X, sharing the clip of Rogan. “Why isn’t this worthy of an investigation? It shouldn’t be too hard to figure out who orders the coverage and why.”
