As blue sanctuary city mayors declare illegal immigrants are destroying their strongholds, the Biden administration and DHS have reportedly decided to handle it by ordering the migrants to stay in red Texas.
“The Biden administration is considering forcing some migrant families who enter the country without authorization to remain near the border in Texas while awaiting asylum screening, effectively limiting their ability to travel within the United States, three U.S. officials told The Times,” the Los Angeles Times reported.
“Administration officials have been considering the idea as a way to stem recent increases in the numbers of migrant families crossing the southern border, which reportedly reached an all-time high last month. Supporters of the remain-in-Texas idea, which has yet to be finalized, hope that it would help the administration advance its goals of quickly deporting families who fail initial asylum screenings and deterring other families from crossing in the first place,” the media outlet continued.
Considering states’ rights that still ostensibly exist in America, that type of order seems unconstitutional and a brazen attempt to punish Texas further.
NEW: LA Times’ @Haleaziz with a scoop, reporting that the Biden administration is considering forcing some migrant families who cross the border illegally to remain in Texas, limiting their ability to travel within the US, as bipartisan criticism grows.https://t.co/b3qkwtWoIE

The proposal is likely to get slammed by conservatives, border-state officials, and immigrant rights groups.
Democrat-led sanctuary cities all declared they welcomed illegal immigrants. But when Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott granted their wish by busing thousands of migrants to their doors, they sang a different tune.
“The Biden plan would force certain migrant families to remain in Texas — or possibly other border states — by tracking their location through GPS monitoring devices, such as ankle bracelets, according to the three officials, who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The families would be put through an asylum screening process to determine whether they could stay in the U.S. and proceed with their claims. Officials have discussed working with local organizations to provide housing for the families,” the LA Times reported, referring to states along the border.
“If the families failed their initial screenings, they’d be easier to deport because they’d be close to the border,” the media outlet added in an assertion that virtually no one believes.
So the federal government is violating federal immigration law and now forcing illegal aliens to REMAIN in a certain state illegally?
I have an idea: let’s put a welcome camp in DC, where they can be screened and then sent back to Texas.— Doug Ross (@directorblue) September 7, 2023
“DHS continuously holds policy and operational discussions on how to leverage our authorities to ensure a fair, humane, and effective immigration process that efficiently removes those without a lawful basis to stay in the country,” a department spokesperson said according to the LA Times.
Robyn Barnard, director of refugee advocacy at Human Rights First, contended that the remain-in-Texas proposal was misguided.
“People should not be punished for their manner of entry to seek asylum,” she said.
Pretty sure he’s trying to start a revolution as Texas was once its own country and just might decide to be so again…

“Forcing migrant families to stay near the border hasn’t been attempted in decades,” Yael Schacher, who is the director for the Americas and Europe at Refugees International and a historian of U.S. immigration, noted while speaking with the LA Times.
“There hasn’t been an attempt to force asylum-seeking families to remain in border towns for 35 years,” she claimed.
The move follows a Texas judge ruling on Wednesday that buoys put in the Rio Grande to deter illegal immigrants crossing into Texas must be removed no later than Sept. 15.

“In addition to the floating barriers, Texas has operated a bussing program to transport migrants to so-called ‘sanctuary cities’ like Chicago, Philadelphia, New York, and Los Angeles, in an effort to provide relief to border towns. Abbott argues that Texas cities have carried the weight of illegal immigration and that ‘sanctuary cities’ need to begin sharing the burden,” Fox News reported.
“Texas has bused over 35,000 migrants to self-declared sanctuary cities,” Abbott wrote on X. “Our busing mission provides critical relief to overwhelmed Texas border towns.”

Users on X slammed the Biden administration over the possibility of restricting illegal immigrants to Texas and other border states:
Holy crap… “REMAIN IN TEXAS”… Forget moving the goalposts, now Biden is moving the border https://t.co/JzrtFHzc8v

So Biden won’t enForce the border but wants to force Texas to keep illegals. More punishment and vindictiveness by Biden to any perso or state that dares to rebel against their totalitarian behavior.

The irony is GALACTIC: You are welcome to cross our international border but you can’t cross a state border. I mean… It’s hard to know where to begin with this.

I’m assuming this is in response to Mayor Adams saying the migrants will destroy NYC, and Cali’s lawsuit against Abbott? Want to know how to vote? Repub Texas has been dealing w/this for decades and is still going. Dem Cali and NYC get a tiny taste and fall apart. https://t.co/v1M1lmQEMC

Ah – a challenge. This is what Texans excel in. Again, Democrats don’t want to solve the problem. They come up only with ways to deal with consequences of their terrible decisions. Don’t secure the border, just give blue cities/states more money and then trap illegals in Texas. https://t.co/BDaAtTRF7o
