Enraged airline passenger confronts ‘racist’ man after reading his texts

Taila Rouse was seated on a flight from Puerto Rico to Atlanta when she happened to notice the man next to her derogatorily texting about having to sit “next to a huge black woman” and tore into him for it, catching it all on video.

The content creator branded the man as “racist” for the text that she somehow saw while sitting next to him on the four-hour flight this week. The resulting video was posted to TikTok.

“You decided to confront the racist sitting next to you on your flight,” the overlaid text on one of Rouse’s videos reads.

“You know what I wasn’t going to say anything… but I decided I want you to feel as uncomfortable as I do, and I want you to know that I saw your text messages and I think you’re disgusting,” she told the unidentified passenger.

@taila.thecreator Sitting next to a racist on my four hour flight from Puerto Rico to Atlanta this week. Yes I could’ve minded my own business, but why should I let him slide? I happened to glance over and see the words “big black woman” so I continued reading. He and his family went on and on about the woes of being stuck sitting next to Black and gay people. Then I see this man say he hopes airlines continue to raise prices so these people get weeded out. If you’re gonna be bold enough to pull your phone out in the middle seat of an airplane and freely talk disrespectfully about Black people, then I’m going to be bold enough to say something to you. “What text message?” the passenger responded acting as though it hadn’t happened and probably wondering how she saw it in the first place.

“You know exactly what I’m talking about. I’m not gonna repeat it cause everybody doesn’t need to know, but I want you to know that I know I saw you and I think you’re disgusting. You don’t have anything to say to that right?” Rouse told the passenger.

When he didn’t immediately respond, she said, “Yeah, I didn’t think so… and speaking of airlines weeding people out, maybe if they raise prices…” she continued.

The passenger then attempted to apologize but Rouse wasn’t having it.

“You don’t have to be sorry to me, you’re sorry because I saw it,” she snapped at him.

In a follow-up video on TikTok, Rouse claimed she was “literally going back and forth” with herself trying to decide whether or not she was going to say something about the incident. She claimed her blood was “boiling” and she was “fuming.”

One person on TikTok said she was proud of Rouse for standing up to the passenger.

“I’m proud of you and don’t even know you. I know the back and forth with yourself on this was hard and you did that,” the person stated.

Rouse also posted a video of a man texting on his phone before taking a closeup of his messages.

“We are still in the gangway. Hopefully the airlines will continue to raise prices and weed out these people. Ryan is sitting next to a huge black woman,” the text message on the man’s phone read.

Rouse captioned the video, “I started recording after reading more than one racist/homophobic remark… At this point the text was for me.”

Another person on TikTok asked her, “How was the rest of the flight? Did he try to change seats?”

The passenger evidently did not change seats and everyone stayed where they were seated for the next four hours which had to be awkward.

“He wouldn’t even think in my direction when the plane landed,” Rouse commented.
