House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan subpoenaed Nina Jankowicz, fondly referred to by the right as Scary Poppins, to appear for deposition before the panel.
Jankowicz was the chief of the Biden administration’s “Disinformation Governance Board,” and the panel “is conducting oversight” of the short-lived board that operated under Homeland Security, investigating its creation, activities and related matters, Fox News reported.
In notifying Jankowicz of her subpoena, Jordan said the Judiciary Committee has “repeatedly sought information” from her concerning her “official duties as a DHS employee and former Executive Director of the Board, including how the Board intended to define disinformation, how it planned to collect information and from what sources, how it anticipated countering disinformation, and how it proposed to protect First Amendment rights,” according to the network.
The former disinformation czar was reminded by Jordan that Republicans on the panel requested her “voluntary cooperation” in May 2022 and again in December 2022. Those requests for documents and an interview were reiterated in January, February, and March 1 of this year, according to the chairman.
“You have declined to comply voluntarily with our request for a transcribed interview,” Jordan wrote.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas assured people that Jankowicz was politically neutral. However, in addition to donating to President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign and campaigning for Hillary Clinton, Jankowicz also insisted the Hunter Biden laptop story was a “Russian influence op.”
Jankowicz recently mounted a crowdfunding campaign to raise $100,000 so she can sue Fox News, accusing the network of spreading “malicious, reckless lies about me.”
“Fox News lied about me hundreds of times to tens of millions of people. Help me hold them accountable for the harm they do,” she said in a tweet — she has only raised $14,000 over 5 days as of this writing.

Jordan also subpoenaed Chip Slaven, the former interim executive director and CEO of the National School Boards Association, and the NSBA’s former president, Viola Garcia.
Slaven and Garcia co-signed the Sept. 2021 letter to President Biden requesting federal law enforcement assistance with parents voicing concerns at local school board meetings, according to Fox News, which was followed by Attorney General Merrick Garland directing the FBI to partner with local law enforcement and U.S. attorneys to investigate parental threats at school board meetings and “prosecute them when appropriate.”
