One-trick pony Ilhan Omar calls McCarthy ‘racist, xenophobic’ for booting her from panel

Like a one-trick pony, U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., responded to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy removing her from the House Foreign Affairs Committee by calling the Republican leader “racist” and “xenophobic.”

According  to Omar, who has been accused of having previously marrying her brother for immigration purposes, being “the only African-born” member on the panel qualifies her position — the radical left Democratic lawmaker, one of the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress, came to the country she now regularly denigrates as a Somali refugee.

“As the only African born, not being on the Africa subcommittee is not just an elimination of a unique voice but an elimination of all the voices that have never been heard on a committee on the continent,” Omar tweeted. “It’s racist, xenophobic and discriminatory.”

The tweet is a continuation of talking points Omar uttered during an appearance Sunday on MSNBC’s “Yasmin Vossoughian Reports.”

“I think it would be hypocritic for him to remove the first African born on subcommittee on Africa on the Foreign Affairs Committee, where I’ve had the opportunity to not only represent my constituents but the voice of so many people who have never had a voice on the Foreign Affairs Committee,” Omar said.

McCarthy cited Omar’s “comments against Israel” as a driving factor in the decision to remove her from the committee — she has a history of antisemitic tropes and comments. In 2019, she said  support for Israel is “all about the Benjamins, baby.” Omar had previously tweeted, “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”

As for her being booted, Omar apparently believes her absence is a threat to national security.

“Kevin McCarthy’s purely partisan move to strip us from our committee is not only a political stunt, but also a blow to the integrity of our democratic institution and threat to our national security,” Omar said, at a news conference Wednesday alongside U.S. Reps. Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., who were removed from the House Intelligence Committee.

The online reaction to Omar complaining that some people did something, which is how she once characterized 9/11, came fast and heavy. Here’s a quick sampling of responses from Twitter:
