Robert O’Neill, the Navy SEAL who took out Osama bin Laden, reflected on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 during an interview on Fox News and said his biggest concern is how divided the United States has become.
The former SEAL Team Six member told Fox News that as America and the world now fear a resurgence of Islamic terrorism, the greater threat may actually be within the United States itself.
“My biggest concern is the division in this country,” O’Neill stated. “Most people are good to each other. But the anger and the division gets the ratings, and that’s what people hear. A lot of people know if they keep people divided they can stay in power and it’s wrong.”
“We can disagree with each other but we’re on the same team when it all comes down to it,” he contended.
O’Neill stated that 9/11 should remind everyone of our shared American values. It’s also a day that memorializes those who were lost during the greatest enemy attack on American soil to ever occur.
“There were people running out of the towers to live, and there were policemen and firemen running up to die. And we have those people there and it’s very, very important to realize that,” he solemnly remarked, giving a nod to the police and the persecution by leftists against them.
“Those are the good guys and they’re out there,” O’Neill declared. “When the demons come, someone’s going to be there to defend you and America should realize that.”
Then O’Neill recounted his time in Kosovo for a peacekeeping mission during the 9/11 attacks with SEAL Team Two.
“That was as close as we ever thought we’d get to combat because there wasn’t war on the horizon,” he recalled. But that was not going to be the case as the United States entered its longest war after the Twin Towers fell and nearly three thousand perished.

He described sitting in an “operation center” with the TV on and then sending out emails. Suddenly a breaking news segment appeared on the screen and riveted everyone present.
“We were looking at it, at the North Tower and guys were saying, ‘You know, a small plane? That’s a huge building, that’s a really big hole and that’s a clear day. This is weird.’ And we were all talking about it with some other SEALS and some intelligence people. And then the second plane hit the south tower and that’s when we all knew immediately – this is an attack,” O’Neill said remembering that fateful day.
He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2005 and joined a SEAL team to rescue Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell in a mission that was called Operation Red Wings. The mission was eventually depicted in the film “Lone Survivor.”
The former SEAL echoed the concerns of so many who witnessed the attack on 9/11 stating that the U.S. has apparently forgotten what the fight against Islamic terrorism means and entails.
“People do need to realize that, you know, as opposed to yelling at each other on social media – there’s an enemy out there that wants to kill all of us. And it doesn’t matter, really doesn’t matter, what you look like – it’s your ideology,” he asserted. “You don’t believe what they think you should believe and they’re going to kill you.”
“One of their sayings is, ‘The Americans have the clock, but we have the time,'” O’Neill warned. “They’re going to adapt.”
He urged people to stop fighting one another, find common ground, and unite as Americans.
“One of my friends Dakota Meyer always says, ‘I don’t want another 9/11 but I’ll take another 9/12 because it united all of us,'” he noted. “And not just Americans, but our way of life, because I think it was 84 countries lost people in the Twin Towers.”
On 9/11 Americans are grateful to O’Neill as they remember one of the darkest days in our history:
I say it every year, and will do so til I’m no longer here. Thank you Seals for what you do everyday, and for repaying some of what was owed for 9/11. 🇺🇸🍺

We look up to courage (lacking by many at home)… A society is dead; without its courageous men.
I would be lying if I said I’m not worried…

Took less than a generation for Democrats to take us from unified to factionalized, hyphenated tribalists.

I remember how Americans came together after 9/11. What happened? My heart breaks when I see what is happening right now. What are your thoughts?

Well said. Til no one cared what party the other was with or If they had this shot or that shot. Until this empty headed senile guy came and started throwing all this BS around. Everyone backed the other if trouble was there but not now.
