Comcast infuriates Lincoln Project by refusing to air sick attack ad: ‘Fox News is helping kill Americans’

Cable giant Comcast is refusing to air a slanderous attack ad by the Lincoln Project targeting Fox News that starts by asking, “Is Rupert Murdoch trying to kill Americans?” and then disingenuously accuses the network of being against COVID vaccinations.

The vicious hit-piece against Fox News features dark, dystopian music and the sinister portrayal of Fox personnel while flatly stating that the conservative network is helping kill Americans because they dare present both sides of the vaccine debate. The ad entitled “Fox is Killing Us” goes on to state that Rupert Murdoch is vaccinated and that Tucker Carlson has almost certainly been inoculated but claims they are still telling Americans to not get vaccinated against the COVID virus which is, to put it mildly, inaccurate.

“The Americans who are dying from COVID,” the announcer intones, “are almost all not vaccinated. Rupert Murdoch was vaccinated. Does anyone really think Tucker Carlson isn’t vaccinated? But Murdoch’s Fox News continues to put Americans at risk by pushing anti-vax hysteria. It’s dangerous. Immoral. Fox News is helping kill Americans. Call your local television provider and tell them to drop Fox News. It’s not about politics; it’s about life and death.”

Fox News is a conservative-leaning media outlet that attempts to present different points of view when it comes to the pandemic, mandated mask-wearing, and forced vaccinations. The network promotes freedom of choice. Some of the hosts, such as Tucker Carlson and Brian Kilmeade question children being forced to wear masks and whether there are side effects to the vaccinations. Other hosts such as Steve Doocy and Sean Hannity actually promote getting vaccinated.

Fox News aired a public service announcement Wednesday night encouraging Americans to get vaccinated and provided information on where they could go to get inoculated.

“Today, The Lincoln Project released a new ad calling out Fox News for their unending dissemination of propaganda aimed at scaring Americans into denying the COVID-19 vaccine. The Lincoln Project was informed by Comcast that they would refuse to run the commercial because it did not meet their guidelines: ‘An advertisement may be rejected if it is merely an attack of a personal nature, a direct attack on an individual business, or comment on a private dispute. Advertisements may be accepted if the attack is on a business that is in the public forum or the issue is one of public concern,'” the statement by the Lincoln Project noted.

The leftist media group added, “Our criticism of Fox News falls under Comcast’s description of a business that is in the public forum or the issue is one of public concern.”

The statement went on, vowing to double down on their attacks against Fox News:

Comcast is one of the main sources of Fox News’ revenue and our ad called on Americans to ask their cable carriers to drop the propaganda network. As Rupert Murdoch’s anti-vaccine messaging machine continues to spread deadly misinformation that is killing Americans, we will not stop calling out the danger Fox News poses to public health.

This is not the first Lincoln Project ad Comcast has blocked from its air. Comcast has repeatedly rejected Lincoln Project ads that seek to hold powerful corporations accountable — be they news networks like Fox or major automobile manufacturers like Toyota. Comcast has made one thing clear: Their bottom line comes before anything else; it comes before democracy; and in this case, it comes before the health and safety of the American people.

The Lincoln Project will not be deterred by corporate censorship. As we continue to build a list of corporations to hold accountable for their anti-democratic practices, Comcast has shot to the top.

This statement comes as President Biden ironically announced plans on Wednesday to nominate a Comcast executive and Democratic fundraiser named David L. Cohen as ambassador to Canada. Cohen, who is a longtime Comcast executive, held fundraising events for Biden during his 2020 campaign.

The anti-Trump Lincoln Project has been mired in scandals involving their finances and co-founder John Weaver, who allegedly stalked and sexually preyed upon young men on the internet.

The Lincoln Project has previously smeared Murdoch and Fox News for having “brainwashed millions with un-American propaganda” following their reporting on the sex scandals that have plagued the group.

In the cheesy attack ad entitled “Rupert,” an announcer claims that Murdoch is “the most dangerous man to ever cross our border. He built an empire out of fear and lies, ruling over a network of deceit that made him a billionaire. Brainwashed millions with un-American propaganda …” The ad pans to scenes of the January U.S. Capitol riot as the announcer predicts Murdoch’s “downfall.”
