Sen. Cornyn blasts Biden for purging Trump policies that worked while lacking his own immigration plan

Republican Senator John Cornyn gave an interview to “America Reports” on Friday and lambasted the Biden administration, stating that they have “miscalculated” the border crisis and are “fooling themselves.”

Cornyn is leveling the accusation that the White House doesn’t have a plan when it comes to illegal immigration and has no idea how to handle the burgeoning crisis on the border. He states that they have “underestimated” exactly how many illegal immigrants are trying to cross over into the United States. They allegedly do not know how to deal with the massive explosion of immigrants illegally entering the country.

Cornyn is the ranking member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Security and Immigration. He was brutal in his assessment of the Biden administration, claiming their “rule of thumb” appears to be “whatever Trump’s policies were … do the opposite.”

“If they think a radio ad in Guatemala or some rhetoric from the podium in Washington, D.C. is going to keep people from trying to enter the United States, they’re just fooling themselves, and what I really regret is they have absolutely no plan. They underestimated this. They had no plan to deal with it, and this is in the face of a pandemic right now,” Cornyn pointed out.

“The Border Patrol are not vaccinated. They’re having to process the migrants. We know Mexico and Central America have had their own COVID-19 problems and there’s no ready regimen for testing migrants as they are released into the United States … this is a humanitarian crisis and we’ve seen it before,” he warned.

“The human smugglers, sometimes called transnational criminal organizations or cartels, this is a moneymaking proposition for them … they’re going to move as many people from Central America and Mexico and around the world …,” the senator from Texas predicted.

“We’ve seen this movie before during the Obama administration, and you would have thought that the Biden administration, which was part of the Obama administration, would have learned. But I don’t know whether it’s the politics or just the incompetence of this administration. That seems to be the rule of thumb, that whatever Trump’s policies were, you do the opposite whether it makes sense or not, and that seems to be what’s happening here,” Cornyn concluded.

Former Customs and Border Protection Director Mark Morgan told Martha MacCallum on Wednesday that Biden has enabled and encouraged the government to actively violate their own immigration laws. He quoted Biden from a 2019 primary debate where he stated that America should invite a “surge to the border” of those seeking asylum.

Morgan pointed out that Biden is keeping America under a strict lockdown but no such measures are applied to illegal immigrants.

“That was their plan. Their plan was to remove every policy or authority that had the Trump name attached to it, Martha. That was effective. They’ve done that. The United States is an active participant in encouraging and facilitating the illegal — this is the part — illegal entry into the United States,” Morgan stated.

“Everything coming out of the press secretary’s [Jen Psaki’s] mouth is a spin and a blatant lie. The dangerous part is the journey. Right now, in the middle of the global pandemic, they’re traveling through [coronavirus] hotspots in Mexico, traveling in groups, which I call active mobile petri dishes. When they get to the border, they’re kept in overcrowded, unsanitary houses,” he declared.

“Up to 30% are abused along the journey. Once they’re smuggled in, they’re trafficked. It’s incredulous that she’s talking about the cruelty after they get here,” Morgan said.

The White House claims they are currently processing hundreds of asylum seekers a day on the border. That is a potential catastrophe during an ongoing pandemic.

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) claims that the illegal immigrants that are coming across our border aren’t being tested for COVID-19.

“I got border mayors saying, ‘woah hold it, hold it, our hospitals are full, we are not getting enough vaccines right now, so you’re releasing undocumented people at our bus stations and our centers without checking them,’” Cuellar proclaimed.

He pointed out that border communities and local nonprofits are having to shoulder the responsibility when it comes to the coronavirus.

“They want to help, but not all of them have gotten vaccines, and they are worried about the health of their volunteers,” Cuellar reported.

“We have heard nothing but crickets,” said Sen. Cornyn. He claims the government should have to handle the emergency.

“They got ahead of themselves and decided to reverse existing policies without coming up with a coherent plan, so we are still waiting for one,” claimed Cornyn.
