“The president’s rally and resulting riot on Capitol Hill didn’t come out of nowhere. They were the result of four-plus years of anger, outrage and outright lies,” he added. “Impeachment offers a chance to say enough is enough. It ought to force every American, regardless of party affiliation, to remember not only what happened on Jan. 6, but also the path that led there. After all, the situation could get much, much worse — with more violence and more division that cannot be overcome. The further down this road we go, the closer we come to the end of America as we know it.”

“I firmly believe the majority of Americans — Republican, Democrat, independent, you name it — reject the madness of the past four years. But we’ll never move forward by ignoring what happened or refusing to hold accountable those responsible,” he added. “That will embolden the few who led us here and dishearten the many who know America is better than this. It will make it more likely that we see more anger, violence and chaos in the years ahead. … Convicting Donald Trump is necessary to save America from going further down a sad, dangerous road.”

Pelosi or Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer could not have said it better, for the Democrats.

Curious, though, that this collaborator avoided noting how Democrats fed the hysteria by not accepting Trump’s win, or how they tore the country apart by insisting he was a Russian agent, or that they maintained he deserved impeachment from the day he took office. Kinzinger also skipped the part where his party flipped 15 Democratic seats and almost retook the House because Trump’s message resonated with voters.

But it’s clear from his votes against Trump and Greene that Kinzinger apparently doesn’t believe in due process or anything else that isn’t a Democratic talking point. And to the delight of conservative Twitter, he stepped in it with an observation of Trump’s fate.

The prosecution is compelling. Donald Trump incited and directed the insurrection. He knew what he was doing. I cannot imagine how any Senator could vote against removal.

Umm, removal from what exactly? Mar-a-lago? Others noted this as well:

Remove him from what? He’s a citizen. Why did the prosecution edit out the part where he told people to be peaceful? It turned my stomach to watch Democrats incident the violence this past Summer. People lost, businesses livelihoods, homes, and local Police stations!
