Democrats supporting the Biden-Harris ticket are saying the quiet part out loud with more frequency as the election looms.
Vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris spent Friday urging Democrats to vote in a daylong tour of Texas, a state not visited by Joe Biden since the March primary. Before stops in McAllen and Houston, Harris hit the stage in Fort Worth where she was introduced as the “next president.”
With Democrats believing they can flip Texas blue, as more than 9 million Texans have already voted, Harris reached out to residents in her multi-city stops on the last day of early voting in the state which has 38 electoral votes.
Before taking the stage in Fort Worth, the California senator was introduced by Rebecca Acuna, Texas state director of the Biden-Harris campaign. Acuna explained to the crowd that, as a “Dreamer” who arrived illegally with her parents to the U.S. as a child, she had become a U.S. citizen and now voted in her first-ever presidential election.

“There could be no better first, because Kamala Harris embodies the hopes, the dreams and the aspirations of all of us,” Acuna told the socially-distanced crowd. “Her story says to the world that, in America, anything is possible, that is the place where the kid of an immigrant can rise to the U.S. Senate and to the White House in just one generation.”
As she prepared to introduce Harris, Acuna may have tripped over what even the nominees themselves have said out loud, and as conservative actor James Woods said in a tweet, they “don’t even hide it anymore.”
“Without further delay, I am so honored to introduce the next president of the United States, Senator Kamala Harris!” she said.
There were no comments or corrections offered by Harris who immediately praised Acuna for her leadership and “confidence.” She and Biden have both slipped in recent weeks and spoken of a potential Harris-Biden administration. The California lawmaker flipped the ticket name in mid-September just hours before Biden mentioned a “Harris-Biden administration” in a speech in Tampa, Florida.
The Democratic presidential nominee seemed to confirm Republicans’ warnings that he is a “Trojan horse” for progressive Democrats as he introduced himself as Harris’s running mate during a campaign speech in Georgia last week.
“My name is Joe Biden, I’m Jill Biden’s husband, and I’m Kamala’s running mate,” he told the cheering crowd at the drive-in rally. “Y’all think I’m kidding, don’t you?”

On Friday, Harris spoke at a field by First St. John Baptist Church in southeast Fort Worth, addressing “an excited group of about 300 people” who were “sitting in lawn chairs that were spread 8 to 12 feet apart for social distancing,” according to the Star-Telegram which reported that the location of the event was not made public beforehand.
The optics of the sparse crowd made things appear even more awkward.
