When you’ve been in politics nearly half a century, it’s hard to keep up with all the tales told over the years.

After 47 years in politics, 77-year-old Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden seems confused about a lot of things, to apparently include where he went to school.

Biden claimed during an October 2019 town hall event in Florence, S.C., that he “got started out of an HBCU, Delaware State.”

“I got started out of an HBCU, Delaware State — now, I don’t want to hear anything negative about Delaware State,” Biden told the crowd. “They’re my folks.”

The problem is, the director of news service for the historically black college, Carlos Holmes, disputes the claim.

Holmes said last week that the former vice president was never a student, though he did make two appearances on campus for commencement speeches, according to Fox News.

“Vice President Biden did not attend DSU,” the director said. “However he was the Commencement keynote speaker in 2003 and [2016], and during the former he was awarded an honorary doctoral degree.”

Unfortunately for the Democratic candidate, there’s video of him making the claim, which the Republican National Committee is only too happy to share.

Fox News cited Biden’s 2007 memoir, “Promises to Keep,” to say there is no mention of Delaware State University, reporting it “details his years at private Catholic school Archmere Academy to his time as a freshman at the University of Delaware.”

And it’s not the only time Biden has made the claim that he attended Delaware State:

At a recent CNN town hall, Biden told viewers he was the first in his family to go to college, which is not true — he was the first on his father’s side of the family to go to college, but was not the first in his whole family.

This is the same event that Biden claimed COVID-19 deaths were preventable while attacking President Trump’s response to the pandemic.

“If the president had done his job, had done his job from the beginning, all the people would still be alive,” he said.

As might be expected, CNN moderator Anderson Cooper let the whopper of a lie stand without comment.

Biden defenders point out that he did attend the University of Delaware, and because the school is a state university, he’s not really lying.

But the winning response to the story is seen in the tweet below, as fibbing Brian Williams offers first-hand confirmation of Biden’s attendance:
