Illegal immigrant teen charged for attempted murder in ambush of two Arizona troopers, to be tried as adult

While the pandemic has largely shut down the problem of illegal immigration, or at least gotten it to manageable levels, it did not eliminate the consequences of having millions of unvetted people in the country illegally.

Consequences two Department of Public Safety troopers in Phoenix experienced first hand when ambushed by two suspects, one of whom opened fire on them.

The suspects’ vehicle passed the unmarked patrol car of the two uniformed troopers early last Thursday and stopped nearby, ABC 15 Arizona reported.

The driver honked the horn as a second suspect got out and started firing an assault rifle, which was identified as “AK Pistol variant.” When the troopers got out to return fire, the driver sped off leaving the second suspect behind.

Fortunately, neither officer was struck by the gunfire, nor was the suspect left at the scene.

That suspect, Luis German Espinoza Acuna, 17, was then taken into custody. Acuna, who was later identified as “an unlawfully present citizen of Mexico,” faces three charges, including Attempted First Degree Murder of a Peace Officer.

He will be tried as an adult, according to the ABC affiliate.

“On Sept. 17, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged an immigration detainer on Luis German Espinoza-Acuna, an unlawfully present citizen of Mexico, following his arrest by the Arizona Department of Public Safety,” the agency said in a statement. “ICE will seek to take Mr. Espinoza-Acuna into custody if and when he is released by local authorities in order to pursue appropriate administrative enforcement action.”

A video was released by the Arizona Dept. of Public Safety capturing what is believed to be the second suspect exiting his vehicle, asking the public for information to help them apprehend the man.

An earlier tweet from the department included images of the vehicle involved in the ambush.

The incident came on the heels of a black suspect ambushing two Los Angeles police officers, striking both cops multiple times when he walked up to their patrol car and opened fire — fortunately, both officers survived the cowardly attack.

Being a law enforcement officer in America today is a difficult, even thankless task.

Police are under siege by politically motivate left-wing activists, which includes the oft-violent Black Lives Matter movement, and become a target for assassination by simply putting their uniform on each day to go to work.

To thing that foreign nationals are included among the potential assassins is almost inconceivable.
