House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy called out former “top cop” Sen. Kamala Harris for remaining silent on the shooting of two Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies.
The California Republican told Fox News on Tuesday that he found it “most telling” that the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, who once served as the state’s attorney general, has not spoken out against the horrific act over the weekend when a gunman severely wounded the two deputies, a 31-year-old mother and her 24-year-old male partner, who were shot while sitting in the police vehicle.
“My heart goes out to them — my prayers,” McCarthy said on “Fox & Friends” Tuesday.
“But when you watch that video — that 31-year-old deputy, a mother of a 6-year-old, a former librarian who just passed the academy a year ago, shot through the jaw, you can’t even quite hear as she calls in. Not only is she treating her other deputy, she’s looking out to see if the shooter is coming back, with blood across her face,” he continued, describing the scene which played out in graphic detail on surveillance video.

“But you know what is most telling to me is my U.S. Senator, Kamala Harris — the former attorney general of California — the top cop, as people would call her — has said nothing. Has not stood up against this,” McCarthy said.

“And when you go across the country saying you should defund the police, when you watch the videos of those who are sitting by laughing as those police officers were shot, not caring for them, not helping them, when they were just sitting in a car protecting the community, it’s appalling and disgusting to me,” he continued.
“This is what is transpiring if we allow this Democrat policy to continue. This is why we need to do something different,” he added.
Harris did post a message on Twitter following a statement by Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, saying the “perpetrator must be brought to justice.”

The California Democrat, who also served as district attorney of San Francisco before her attorney general post, slammed the shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin and reportedly said she was “proud” of the man who previously sexually assaulted his former girlfriend and was charged with criminal trespass and domestic abuse before the incident last month when he was shot by Kenosha police after a confrontation.
Former Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker called out Harris for her double standard.
Will @kamalaharris visit deputies who were shot (31-year-old mom & 24 year-old) in her state? She visited someone in WI who was charged with felony 3rd-degree sexual assault and said she was proud of him.

Democrat, McCarthy reminded Fox News viewers on Tuesday, are the ones promoting policies to “defund police.”
“They’re talking about defunding the police. They continue to talk about it throughout the community. They incite the ability for people to do this — that this is going to be okay,” he said.
“Why don’t they rise up to condemn this? Why don’t they rise up to go see those officers? Why don’t they help look for the individual who did this to bring them justice?” the GOP lawmaker asked. “Remember, Kamala Harris was the attorney general of California. She was the top cop of California. This is a person that she should have prosecuted. Why has she been silent on this?”
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva also confronted the left’s double standards as he came out with a direct challenge to NBA star LeBron James, asking him to put his money where his mouth is and match the reward money being offered for information on the person who shot the deputies.
“I know you care about law enforcement. You expressed a very interesting statement about your perspective on race relations and on officer-involved shootings and the impact that it has on the African-American community,” Villanueva said in a KABC radio interview.
“I’ll be very curious to see what his response is, if any, the sheriff said of the Lakers star who has been vocal on anti-police issues, adding that the “need to appreciate that respect for life goes across all professions.”
