Democrats worried about losing their presidential bid in November are continuing to set the narrative for President Trump’s potential reaction to being defeated.
Soon after Sen. Bernie Sanders warned that Trump could refuse to leave the White House if Democratic nominee Joe Biden beats him in November, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer jumped in to stand “side-by-side” with the twice-failed presidential candidate from Vermont.
“This is important: I’m standing side-by-side with @SenSanders to make sure we have a plan if President Trump refuses to leave office,” Schumer tweeted in response to Sanders’ call for a plan to be readied as reported by Politico.
The New York Democrat threw in his support of the theory being pushed by Sanders and Democrats that Trump will not concede if he loses the election and will have to be forced out of the White House.
“This is not just idle speculation,” Sanders told Politico as he joined with other Trump critics to make the unfounded claims, pointing to comments made at the Republican National Convention.
“Trump was saying that the only way he could lose the election is if there was — let me get the exact quote — ‘the only way they can take this election away from us is if this is a rigged election.’ Now he is making that statement at a time when virtually every national poll has him behind,” Sanders said.
He also suggested that Trump seemed to imply the same during a Fox News interview with Chris Wallace in July.
“I have to see. Look, you — I have to see. No, I’m not going to just say yes. I’m not going to say no, and I didn’t last time, either,” the president told Wallace when asked whether he’d accept the election results.
Sanders laid out the plan to address the issue being pressed by Democrats with the election looming as they work to “alert” voters.
“What we have got to do in the next two months is to alert the American people about what that nightmarish scenario might look like in order to prepare them for that possibility and talk about what we do if that happens,” he said.
In a planned email, according to Politico, the senator will be warning recipients that, “This is not just a ‘constitutional crisis.’ This is a threat to everything this country stands for.”
To further lay the groundwork, Sanders will reportedly called on the liberal media to warn Americans that election results could be delayed for days, if not weeks, after November 3, further planting doubt about voting tallies before any ballots have even been cast.
“The nightmare scenario there is that, at a time when some states like Pennsylvania are finding that they don’t have the resources right now to count votes, their mail-in ballots, in a rapid way, that it is possible that in some states Trump will be winning on election night, and yet when all of the votes are counted, he will be behind. He will lose,” Sanders claimed of Trump. “But that during that interval, he will create chaos and confusion by claiming that there is massive fraud within the mail-in ballot process.”
Never mind that Trump has said that he will “go on and do other things” if he is not reelected, but Democrats seem bent on spinning the conspiracy theory and setting the stage for whatever it is they intend to accomplish in the post-election fallout.
“America, Donald Trump has quit on you,” Schumer said during his speech at the Democratic National Convention last month.
Former President Bill Clinton joined his wife Hillary and a host of other voices raising the alarm over Trump’s possible reaction, telling American Urban Radio’s April Ryan that the president “probably won’t even come to Biden’s inauguration. He’ll be stacking sandbags around in the White House.”
Meanwhile, his wife and twice-failed presidential candidate ranted that Biden should not concede the race “under any circumstance because I believe the other side is going to cheat and sneak and try everything they possibly can.”

“He is a clear and present danger to our freedoms, our liberties, our unity, and we’ve got to defeat him. There is no alternative,” she added.
