President Donald Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic set off a heated war of words between Fox News’ Geraldo Rivera and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway’s husband.
Rivera and George Conway slung insults at each other in a series of tweets, calling each other out at times as a “hack” and a “punk” in the spat initially triggered by criticism of former vice president Joe Biden.

Conway began with an attack on the president and his record on handling the coronavirus, set off by a tweet from Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale.
“It’s been 82 days since Joe Biden held a press conference,” Parscale tweeted on Tuesday, further fueling criticism that the Democratic presidential nominee is hiding in his basement.
In a responding tweet, Conway pointed out several COVID-19 related numbers he associated with Trump with his 1.2 million Twitter followers.
“It’s been 118 days since @realDonaldTrump said covid-19 cases ‘would go down to zero,’ 61 days since he suggested doctors inject household cleaning solutions into people, 3 days since he said he slowed down testing, and 6 hours since he said he wasn’t kidding about that,” Conway wrote.

Conway sparked many responses, both agreeing and slamming him for his comments. One of those calling him out was Rivera.
“He is rooting for the f—ing virus,” the correspondent-at-large for Fox News tweeted, calling Conway out as a “punk.”
George Conway is a punk. He is rooting for the fucking virus https://t.co/hPjMnVfJO7

Not surprisingly, many Twitter users were happy to pile on Rivera with more insults. Conway fired back on Wednesday, continuing the back and forth.
“This is rooting for the virus? I guess it’s better to be a punk than a hack, then,” he wrote.

“This is my 50th year on television hacking. You’re still a punk,” Rivera tweeted in response, prompting yet another sarcastic shot from Conway.
Don’t we all wish we could be as clever, articulate, and thoughtful as @GeraldoRivera? So impressive! https://t.co/wOvHBxpfJA

Despite being married to the counselor to the president, Conway remains a vocal Trump critic. Last year, he joined a group of Republicans to launch the “Lincoln Project” in an effort “dedicated to defeating President Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box and to elect those patriots who will hold the line.”
Conway was blasted last year when he attacked first lady Melania Trump for defending her own son Barron. He was eviscerated by Trump’s 2020 campaign manager as well, who tweeted: “I remember how irrelevant you were when I met you, how far you have come with hate! Soon you will be irrelevant again, can’t wait!”
The president’s son, Donald Trump Jr., has also torched Conway, calling him a “disgrace” who “publicly embarrasses his wife by attacking her boss for the purpose of getting retweets and building his own brand.”
