‘SNL’ Democrat debate recap loaded with special guests, HILARIOUS one-liners

In a genuinely laugh-out-loud funny “Saturday Night Live” skit, an all-star cast of characters portrayed the 2020 Democrat candidates on the debate stage.

Among those stars was Woody Harrelson who pulled off a hilarious Joe Biden, flashing a mouthful of unnaturally white teeth. “America, I see you. And I see the faces you make when I talk — you’re scared,” he said. “Scared I’ll say something off-color, or even worse, on color. What I want you to know is you should be scared, because I’m always one second away from calling Cory Booker ‘Barack.’”

Another on-target, amusing imitation was delivered by Kate McKinnon who, as Elizabeth Warren, insisted she has “mom-hosting-Thanksgiving energy.”

“I’m a little overwhelmed because I thought 10 people were coming and now there’s 30 million,” she said. “But I promise dinner will be ready if you just get out of the kitchen and stop asking questions,” mocking how Warren avoids responding to questions about how she plans to pay for her $52 trillion Medicare-for-All plan.

One of the biggest laughs in the skit came from this line from McKinnon’s Warren when she said, “And, of course, this Thanksgiving, I’ll be cooking … the food of my ancestors. Should I say it? I’m going to say it. Maize.”

Another spot-on characterization was Bernie Sanders, as played by Larry David. The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star looked and sounded just like the candidate as he talked about Sanders’ recent heart attack. “Doctors were surprised I made it,” he said. “And I’m very proud of the fact that I was the first heart attack patient to show up to the emergency room in a city bus.”

Still another great portrayal was Tulsi Gabbard, played by Cecily Strong, and introduced as “tonight’s villain.” She was indeed looking evil, perhaps like Cruella De Vil. “I want you to know I’m wearing the white suit of your fallen hero: Hillary Clinton,” she said, endearing herself to more and more MAGA fans, no doubt.

Biden closed the skit by saying he knows that neither Vladimir Putin nor American voters want him to become the Dems’ nominee, “but I’m positive I can win the election in 2016.”

Most conservatives these days have fond memories of “Saturday Night Live” from way back when. More recently, not so much, as the show typically is brutal with President Trump and other Republicans.

But it’s great to see that the “SNL” producers are willing to also make fun of the naturally hilarious leftists. And this time, they did it well!
