Crenshaw gives AOC needed lesson on guns and life in America ‘outside NYC’

Poor Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She picks so many fights where it’s immediately clear she is out of her depth and confused about what she is talking about.

The New York congresswoman has targeted Texas representative and military veteran Dan Crenshaw in her latest Twitter meltdown.

Responding to a story about a woman defending herself with a gun from five robbers, Crenshaw tweeted, “Situations like this story are why we protect the 2nd Amendment. Side note: With universal background checks, I wouldn’t be able to let my friends borrow my handgun when they travel alone like this. We would make felons out of people just for defending themselves.”

AOC then stepped in and made a truly bizarre statement which made it clear that she is totally disconnected from reality and has some sort of leftist filter that words go through before they reach her brain.

“You are a member of Congress. Why are you ‘lending’ guns to people unsupervised who can’t pass a basic background check? The people you’re giving a gun to have likely abused their spouse or have a violent criminal record, & you may not know it. Why on earth would you do that?” she tweeted to Crenshaw.

It’s like she’s responding to a tweet that doesn’t exist. Crenshaw never said someone he was lending a gun to couldn’t pass a background check or had a violent criminal record or “likely” beat their spouses.

Also, AOC completely ignores the story of a woman potentially saving her own life with a firearm.

A little research also would have given AOC more details about Crenshaw’s position, but it should be deadly clear to everyone at this point that AOC does not like research.

“This is the 1st mass shooting where a universal background check *possibly* would have prevented him from having a gun, if and only if, they decided to self-enforce that law. Guys who shoot cops tend not to self-enforce laws. And we don’t make sweeping policy on one situation,” Crenshaw wrote in an earlier tweet responding to a story about the Odessa mass shooter.

Twitter users were quick to point out that AOC’s response to Crenshaw’s tweet showed an alarming amount of ignorance.

“You just made a LOT of assumptions here,” one user wrote.

“You have such a limited life experience, AOC, I’m embarrassed for you. Outside of NYC, people lend firearms to friends to try out hunting or at the range or when they are traveling. Most of us don’t hang out with criminals. You might need better friends!” added another.

Another wrote, “Spend a moment comprehending what he’s saying before going to your usual histrionics. He said nothing about them not being able to pass a check. Not all of us have body guards. We protect ourselves. I’m never giving up my gun!”

Check out more responses below:

Crenshaw himself responded to AOC on Twitter and pretty clearly shut AOC’s argument down.

“Just so I’m clear: you think my friends are domestic abusers/criminals? Seriously that’s your argument? That they can’t pass a background check? Wrong. People lend guns to friends, esp if they don’t own a gun, for self-defense and hunting purposes. This is America outside NYC,” he tweeted.
