President Trump defended his criticism of Fox News after being confronted by “Fox & Friends” co-host Brian Kilmeade about his recent change of heart.

Kilmeade asked the president why he has been “upset” as he has voiced his displeasure with his once favored network in several tweets recently, calling out critical reports and unfavorable polling.

“I know you were critical of Fox yesterday,” the Fox News co-host asked Trump during his live radio show Thursday.  “So you were very upset.”

Trump lashed out on Twitter Wednesday over Fox News anchor Sandra Smith interviewing Democratic National Committee Communications Director Xochitl Hinojosa and apparently allowing her to say “whatever she wanted with zero pushback.”

Just watched @FoxNews heavily promoting the Democrats through their DNC Communications Director, spewing out whatever she wanted with zero pushback by anchor, @SandraSmithFox. Terrible considering that Fox couldn’t even land a debate, the Dems give them NOTHING! @CNN & @MSNBC….

He also complained about Donna Brazile, Juan Williams and  Shepard Smith.

“I’m not happy with Fox,” Trump told Kilmeade. “Look, Sean and Laura and Tucker have really been good — well, Tucker is a little tricky but that’s ok. But he’s been very good. Many of them, you guys in the morning, Ainsley, and Steve and you — I used to say you, you were a solid 6, maybe a 7. But you’re getting much better.”

“But the thing that people should know about us is that — from the time you were hosting The Apprentice, if you and I disagreed, you didn’t mind,” Kilmeade interjected.

“You know we disagreed. We’d talk about President Bush, we’d talk about different things, and it was still okay,” he continued.

“So I don’t understand,” Kilmeade pressed. “If Fox comes on and if somebody comes on and they’re critical of one thing about you. It never used to bother you like this. Now yesterday I read those tweets … I thought to myself what’s bothering you about it, because our channel prides itself in diversity and getting everybody in so you don’t have to flip around.”

The president replied with a jab at MSNBC and CNN for their negative coverage of him.

“MSNBC I think is worse…They fight to see who’s worse,” Trump said. “But they don’t have diversity meaning my view, they never put my view on.”

“CNN, in particular, is begging me to do an interview, and I just think it would be disloyal to my followers. What’re they going to ask me?” he said as Kilmeade agreed.

“I don’t think you should do an interview there either,” he quipped.
