In light of the continuing controversy surrounding Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress, there are two prevailing thoughts, the hatred Omar appears to harbor in her heart and just how dangerous she may be.
With yet another slight at Jewish people this week, as seen in her attack on White House adviser Stephen Miller, who she called a “white nationalist,” GOP strategist Jeff Ballabon appeared on Fox Business Network’s “Varney & Company” to say that Omar is “more dangerous than David Duke and Louis Farrakhan combined.”
Miller, who’s Jewish, is at the center of the abrupt resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, reportedly directing a massive department overhaul as a full-fledged crisis on the southern border threatens to spin out of control.
The freshman Democrat also said that it’s an “outrage” that Miller has influence on policy and political appointments.
When asked if her strong language is acceptable, Ballabon said, “What’s completely unacceptable is for Ilhan Omar to yet again target Jews.”
“In this case it’s not just Stephen Miller,” he said. “What she’s doing is by declaring a Jew — someone who is known to be Jewish — a white nationalist, is she’s saying, ‘Jews, you’re not minorities.’ In other words, this is a way of taking away our right to speak out in their culture, this leftist culture that says only certain kinds of people have agency.”
“The fact is, Jews are not only minority. Jews are the most victimized minority in this country, far more than blacks, Muslims and women,” Ballabon insisted, adding that Omar is being characterized as though she was being attacked based on these other minority groupings.
With Omar, a sitting member of Congress, continuing to hit Jews with no restraints from her party, Ballabon, an Israeli lobbyist, didn’t pull punches in his assessment of the danger she poses.
“She is the most dangerous anti-Semite we have ever seen,” he declared. “She’s more dangerous in this country — more dangerous than David Duke and Louis Farrakhan combined — because she sits where she sits and no one is stopping her. She keeps on assaulting Jews.”
When asked about possible repercussions, aside from Omar hiding behind her right to free speech, Ballabon said she will use charges of Islamophobia as a shield.
“The idea that her identity protects her while she launches attack after attack after attack on Jews, it’s sort of like, you know, let’s protect the Gazans while they launch missile after missile after missile into Israel against civilians. That’s ridiculous,” he said. “At some point you have to defend yourself.”
“What she’s doing is she’s using her role not just in Congress, but in the Foreign Affairs Committee and she seems to be untouchable,” Ballabon continued. “The Democrats keep on saying they are going to do something about it, and then they back off. They’re going to pass a resolution against her anti-Semitism, her anti-Semitism, and then they back off. Generic —“
He also said Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke calling Benjamin “Bibi” Netanyahu — who Ballabon said holds views shared by 80 percent of Israel — a racist is “an outright assault on Jews.”
