President Trump and Melania reportedly enjoy 3-hour long private dinners together

Early on in President Donald Trump’s improbable run for the White House and his first two years in office, his marriage to first lady Melania Trump seemed to be open game for the liberal media.

Reports of a cold, loveless union were common as the media looked to drive division where it could, even it meant undermining the president’s marriage. But that effort has tailed off considerably of late and a new book may have the answer to why that is — other than the titillating rumors of a dalliance with porn star Stormy Daniels no longer being front page news.

The book by best-selling author Laurence Leamer, a part-time resident of Palm Beach, Fla., says the first couple spend long, private dinners together during visits to Mar-a-Lago, according to CNN.

Titled, “Mar-a-Lago: Inside the Gates of Power at Donald Trump’s Presidential Palace,” the book is the “inside story” of how Trump “became King of Palm Beach ― and how Palm Beach continues to be his spiritual home even as president.”

And Leamer writes that the Trumps have dinners that sometimes last up to “three hours.”

“What married couple spends three hours together alone at dinner?” Leamer asked. “They’re there so long, other people are leaving and they’re just … there.”

But it’s not like they aren’t enjoying each other’s company, as a White House official told CNN.

“Those two will go and sit at dinner, and they are in the most in-depth conversations, and will talk and sit there for hours, literally,” the official said.

“They dine for hours,” Leamer said of their dinners. “He likes a small table, a four-person table, so people can come over to say ‘hello’ but there’s not enough room to invite people to join.”

He wrote that they are private people and very comfortable when at the resort — while married at a nearby Episcopal church, CNN reported that “the Trumps’ lavish wedding reception in 2005 was held in the club’s gilded ballroom.”

“It’s extraordinary for what a public personality Trump is that part of him is very private, and so is she,” Leamer said in the book. “I am talking in the sense he and she don’t necessarily like interlopers. Trump has always got to be the center of attention, so if you go to someone else’s party, he’s not always going to be that.”

“She is on his arm, spectacularly dressed, even if just for the members to see,” the author explained. “Mar-a-Lago is the one place where he feels truly relaxed, he feels comfortable there — and I think that’s true of her as well.”

In fact, you could say Mar-a-Lago is her respite.

“She has a long history with Palm Beach, yes, but she stays to herself for most part,” Leamer said. “All these ladies in Palm Beach, they go to Worth Avenue to shop, they dress up and they pay these exorbitant prices for clothes and things, and that’s part of the scene. That’s what they do here, that’s the life. But not Melania Trump.”
