Army pilot: Media sank to a ‘new low’ by trashing Trump’s visit to US troops in war-zone Iraq

The media criticism of President Trump’s visit to US troops stationed in Iraq is so warped that Army veteran and former Pentagon official Amber Smith can’t contain her disgust.

Smith was referring to a hit piece CNN did accusing the U.S. troops of violating Department of Defense guidelines when they got their MAGA caps signed by Trump.

“This is a new low for media personalities and news networks to go after US troops who are fighting in a combat zone right now, with the sole purpose of hurting President Trump,” Smith told Fox News host Ed Henry (see video).

CNN accused the troops of violating military rules when they asked Trump to sign their MAGA gear. USAF said no rules were broken.

Smith is a former Army helicopter pilot who did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. She said the media need to wake up and realize what these servicemen and women go through before they lob sham accusations of wrongdoing at them simply to attack President Trump.

“When I first heard this news breaking I said, this is absolutely fantastic. Republicans, Democrats, Americans, we can all get behind this because there is literally nothing negative about the commander-in-chief going to visit troops who are in harm’s way.

Every single day they are going out on missions that are extremely dangerous. They are not in there behind the desk in Washington, researching the latest on political policy of the Department of Defense. They are wondering if they are going to make it home tonight.

The criticism is absolutely ludicrous. They want to criticize the president to criticize him. President Trump could cure cancer and they would still find something negative about it.”

Amazingly, CNN host Don Lemon and his guests doubled-down on their tone-deaf criticism of President Trump’s surprise visit to US service members in Iraq.

“He’s like the Grinch,” Lemon huffed.

Meanwhile, US Air Forces Europe said troops holding MAGA hats during President Trump’s visit to Ramstein Air Base did nothing wrong.

“There is no rule against Airmen bringing personal items to be signed by the president,” USAFE said in a statement. “Any time the commander in chief offers the opportunity to meet with Airmen, such as this official holiday visit by the President and First Lady, Airmen are welcome to participate.”

Oops, poor CNN is foiled again.
