Donald Trump Jr. offered some stark perspective when Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez appeared to have a light bulb moment regarding the media.

The son of President Donald Trump reacted to the Democratic socialist whining on Twitter about false media coverage – otherwise known as “fake news” – on Wednesday.

“One disappointment about DC is the gossip that masquerades as ‘reporting.’ This story has: Not a SINGLE named or verifiable source, Only ONE on-the-record comment, which is a denial,” the incoming New York congresswoman tweeted, criticizing a Politico report claiming she was planning to recruit someone to challenge fellow New York Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries in 2020.

“My dad had a name for junk articles like this: ‘Birdcage lining,’” she wrote.

She also noted that this wasn’t the first time the publication wrote about her with “no named sources.”

Politico fired back, declaring they would “stand by our reporting.”

No stranger to mainstream media shenanigans, Trump Jr. responded to Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks by asking her to imagine how bad the bias would be if the media ‘actually hates you.’

Ocasio-Cortez may find it hard to disagree with Trump Jr., though the two have locked horns before, most recently with the freshman lawmaker threatening to use the “subpoena power” of Congress against him because he made fun of her.

She probably won’t be willing to admit, however, that much of her criticism of the press seems to echo that of the president.

The similarities sparked commentary on Twitter where some called out the hypocrisy of celebrating Ocasio-Cortez’s condemnation of the media while bashing Trump for the same thing. Others wondered if the youngest woman ever elected to Congress may just be the “Trump of the left.”
