A woman stood helplessly trapped with her head wedged between New York City subway doors as passersby appeared to completely ignore her.
A video taken by a passenger across the platform from the woman was posted on Instagram showing the disturbing footage of a woman with her head and purse stuck in the partially closed train doors.
Valerie Jarrett couldn’t have seen what was coming when she said Americans should THANK Susan Rice
The video, taken by a passenger who apparently preferred to document the incident rather than help, was captioned: “If you thought you were having a bad day just be glad this isn’t you but I’m just trying to figure out why everybody walking past like nothing is happening.”
The woman reportedly attempted to exit the train Tuesday afternoon after she realized it had reached its last stop and was emptied of all passengers, according to the New York Post.
She became trapped as the doors closed before she could fully exit the subway car.

Amazingly, many people can be seen in the video walking past the woman without checking on her. A Metropolitan Transportation Authority employee also walked by without stopping, but the agency clarified that the worker had informed the trapped passenger that they were working on getting the doors open.
“While this is an unfortunate incident, the passenger was able to get out safely with assistance from our train operator,” MTA spokeswoman Beth DeFalco said, according to the Post. “Because the doors were ajar, the train was never in danger of moving.”
According to officials, the woman was freed shortly after and did not need medical assistance.
The video, which has gone viral with more than 1.3 million views on Instagram, sparked an outcry on social media slamming the inaction of other passengers, including the person who caught the incident on video.
