Mariah’s team demands formal apology, says disaster performance was sabotaged by producers for ratings

Don’t blame Mariah Carey for her disastrous New Year’s Eve performance.

Carey’s manager, Stella Bulochnikov, claims the singer was sabotaged and set up to fail in a bid for ratings. Bulochnikov made the stunning accusations in a furious letter to Mark Shimmel, a producer with Dick Clark Productions.

“You know her inner ears were NOT working and your entire production team did not set her up to win,” Bulochnikov wrote in a letter obtained by the NY Post.

Bulochnikov, who wrote in all caps, claimed the production team let Carey stumble around on stage even though she kept telling them real-time that her equipment was malfunctioning:

AND MARIAH KEPT TELLING THEM [something was wrong] ON STAGE IN REAL TIME. THEY KEPT IGNORING HER.

SHE TOOK A HIT HONORING HER COMMITMENT TO YOU. I SHOULD HAVE PULLED HER OFF THE STAGE THIS IS SABOTAGE.

Bulochnikov then demanded a “formal apology” and said Carey may sue Dick Clark Productions.

Bulochnikov later told the Post she doesn’t believe producers deliberately caused Mariah’s equipment to fail, but they intentionally did not step in to fix the situation once they saw that her horrible performance would become a trending topic.

“Once things went wrong, they took the decision to keep rolling and make her look like a train wreck for the ratings,” Bulochnikov said. “They kept telling us, ‘Don’t worry, the earpiece will work when we go live. It will be on a different frequency.’ But the ear piece didn’t work. She couldn’t hear the music.”

Producers denied the “sabotage” claims, calling them “absurd.” Carey was universally panned for her shockingly bad performance, where she stumbled around looking clueless.

Carey later took to Twitter and shrugged off her epic fail, saying, “Sh*t happens.”
