DNC computers get hacked for dirt on Trump, DWS scorched when word gets out on who did it

Professional hackers working for the Russian government have had access to internal Democratic National Committee information for a year.

The information pertains to the Democrat presidential candidates as well as opposition research on Donald Trump, Politico confirmed on Tuesday.

Cyber firm CrowdStrike was called in to investigate after the DNC suspected hacking in April. Through extensive monitoring CrowdStrike was able to determine the hackers were from the Russian state and the massive breach had been underway for about a year, according to most reports.

“The security of our system is critical to our operation and to the confidence of the campaigns and state parties we work with,” said Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the DNC chairwoman, in a statement. “When we discovered the intrusion, we treated this like the serious incident it is and reached out to CrowdStrike immediately. Our team moved as quickly as possible to kick out the intruders and secure our network.”

But is Wasserman Schultz’s “reassurance” a little too little, a little too late? It seems so:
