Curt Schilling made it clear on Friday that he has no intentions of backing down over his transgender bathroom comments.
The World Series winning former Boston Red Sox pitcher appeared on the Breitbart News Daily radio program to discuss being fired as a baseball analyst by ESPN over a social media post about men using women’s bathroom facilities.
“A man is a man no matter what they call themselves,” he wrote Monday on Facebook.
“I’m not transphobic. I’m not homophobic,” the All Star player told host Stephen K. Brannon on Friday, before pointing out that his 16-year-old son “is one of the founding members of the LGBT Club in high school.”
Schilling added he has never “treated somebody based on a racial denomination or religion or sexual preference.”
“I don’t care … I’ve never cared,” he said. “As long as you’re not sleeping with my wife, I don’t care who you sleep with.”
The pitching ace went on to say that the people now criticizing him are motivated by an agenda.
“That’s why I sleep well at night,” Schilling said. “I’m okay with people I don’t know saying things that aren’t true because life is hard enough. I can’t live my life to make people that don’t know me like me.”
Schilling is not backing down on social media either, sharing a meme Friday from Steven Crowder, the conservative host of “Louder with Crowder,” that favorably compared Schilling to ex-Black Lives Matter activist and now New York Daily News columnist Shaun King, who “fakes being a black man.”
