Just hearing the name Megyn Kelly was more than enough to elicit hearty boos from a decidedly pro-Trump audience attending a Fox News town hall featuring their candidate.

Sean Hannity was hosting a town hall with Trump on Wednesday night when he asked the Republican front-runner about meeting with Kelly earlier in the day and the crowd erupted in protest.

Trump clearly took delight in the crowd’s reaction… as for Hannity, he made no attempt to verbally stick up for his colleague amid the prolonged jeering, but he gestured the group to quiet down.

Kelly let the cat out of the bag earlier on “The Kelly File” that she had a sit-down with Trump and even teased that an interview with the candidate could be in the works.

She also made it clear that she reached out to Trump.

“Maybe it was time, or maybe she felt it was time,” the real estate tycoon told host Sean Hannity. “I give her a lot of credit for, you know, doing what she did.”

Fox News released a statement commenting on the meeting:

“FOX News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes has spoken to Donald Trump a few times over the past three months about appearing on a FOX Broadcasting special with Megyn Kelly airing on May 23. Kelly requested a meeting with Mr. Trump, which took place at Trump Tower this morning. The results of that meeting will be revealed on tonight’s Kelly File at 9PM/ET. Kelly has acknowledged in recent interviews that Trump is a fascinating person to cover and has electrified the Republican base.”
