TV personality and former “Dirty Jobs” host, Mike Rowe is used to getting his hands dirty – but tarnishing his reputation is another story entirely.
Rowe has come out and addressed rumors surrounding an armed bank robbery in Oregon earlier this week. Surveillance footage shows the robber bears a striking resemblance to Rowe.
In response to the widespread agreement that the robber is Rowe’s dead ringer, the TV personality took to Facebook to explain his alibi, and the differences in appearances.
True, I am often attired in a sweatshirt and ball cap, and yes, I do share a certain resemblance with the culprit,” Rowe wrote. “I’ve also been spotted in Medford on more than once occasion, (a lovely town by any standard.) However, I am not “5’6″- 5’8″ tall with a small to medium build.” The last time I was 5’6” – 5’8” I was in the 6th grade. And the “small to medium” ship sailed some time ago.
Rowe warned his fans that the “much skinnier, six inches shorter, and far less attractive man” is still on the loose. He even floated the idea that the robber could have been wearing a mask, which he insisted do “exist.”
Finally Rowe explained his whereabouts on the day in question:
“PS. For what it’s worth, I was in Kansas Monday, and can prove it, if need be,” he wrote.
The story made it to “Good Morning America” where the hosts asked Rowe what he thought about the Oregon police making a joke about the resemblance.
“I looked at it and I laughed and I said, ‘Those guys have a great sense of humor,’” Rowe said.
