McCarthy ‘would bet’ his house that GOP retakes lower chamber in 2022: ‘Don’t tell my wife’

To say that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy is confident about Republicans retaking the House come 2022 would be an understatement.

Speaking at CPAC 2021, he said he’d be willing to bet his house — as in the residence where he and his family lives — that Republicans will retake the House next year and “retire Nancy Pelosi.”

He made the remarks while speaking with the conference’s organizer, American Conservative Union chair Matt Schlapp, about the GOP’s success last year.

“We got closer than anybody thought we could get. They said we’re going to lose 20 seats that night. No one said we’d win seats. My dearest friend, who’s a hardcore Republican, said that the best we could is lose 10,” he said.

Instead Republicans flipped 15 seats for a net gain of 12, all thanks to the influence and work of former President Donald Trump, according to McCarthy.

“But this is the little secret: You know why we won that? President Trump worked on all these races,” he maintained.

His work led to Republicans scoring multiple historic feats.

“This is the first time since 1994 no incumbent Republican lost. We beat 15 Democrats. And you know who the 15 Democrats lost to? Conservative women and conservative minorities. Each and every one of them,” McCarthy explained.

Listen:

“And what happened, even when President Trump was sick with COVID, he called me that night in the hospital, he said, ‘Kevin, I gotta keep doing this,’ because we couldn’t do the rallies, right,” he continued.

“He would do these rallies over the phone for each district, and he’d have the candidate on, then he would talk. And it would turn out the votes. And that’s what shocked, because all the polls said we’d lose, but election day voters said no, there’s a new path.”

This prompted Schlapp to predict that Republicans “have a great chance of getting the majority back,” but McCarthy wasn’t having that.

We’re GOING TO get the majority back! We’re five seats away! I would bet my house!” he exclaimed.

When asked by Schlapp whether he meant his living residence, he replied in the affirmative.

My personal house — don’t tell my wife, but I would bet it!” he said.

He added, “Do you want to retire Nancy Pelosi? You want to end the socialism in this country? Win the House!”

Is he being over-confident? Probably not.

The GOP’s gains in 2022, the Democrat Party’s increasing radicalism, President Joe Biden’s broken promises and historic precedence all promise a political about-face come 2022. Republicans know it, and so do some Democrats.

In a private House Democratic Caucus meeting days after the 2020 election, “centrist” Democrats like Rep. Abigail Spanberger warned that if Democrats don’t cut the extreme crap, they’ll “get f–king torn apart” In 2022.

However, it doesn’t appear as if Spanberger’s peers listened. In just the past few weeks, Democrats have passed a coronavirus relief bill containing a minimum wage hike that would cripple businesses and destroy jobs, and an ostensible trans rights “equality” bill that would destroy religious freedom and end women’s sports.

Meanwhile, Biden has embraced critical race theory and affirmative action. He’s also turned his back on young girls desperate to play competitive sports.

“The Biden administration has withdrawn from a Connecticut lawsuit that aims to ban transgender athletes from competing in girls’ high school sports,” Fox News reported last week.

“A group of three female runners sued state and local education officials after losing state titles to transgender athletes in 2018. Backers of the lawsuit contend that athletes who were born male have a natural and unfair advantage over competitors who were born female.”

Thanks to his actions, #BidenRegret is on the rise.

Look:

All of this regret could bode exceptionally well for Republicans if these left-wing voters choose to either vote for Republicans or not vote at all in 2022.
