Alan Bergstein infiltrates MoveOn.org

I just returned home from “attending” a MoveOn meeting. I wanted to get a feel for this chapter and what it does. I joined a group of 12, huddled in a coffee shop to schedule events. I parked a long walk away to be sure no one saw the “Allen West for Congress” sticker on the back bumper of my car. No fear. The wattage around the table would not power my night light.

As a newcomer, I listened to the rattle of ideas, which included rallies in the area. Such suggestions flew around the room like debris from a hurricane. One woman advocated picketing a Bank of America. With so many local branches, I bravely asked, “Which one?” “Any one!” was the answer. The protest’s purpose would be to initiate a shutdown of the entire Bank of America system. I mentioned that if the group was successful, untold thousands of workers would lose their jobs. The response? “The government would take it over!”

I suggested to the group, unknown to them that the idea was tongue in cheek, that it consider rounding up homeless people and having them join the demonstrations for effect. After all, this group was well-dressed and obviously middle class. The leader stated that he knew of no homeless and asked,”Just where could we find them?” If there are no homeless around this neighborhood to showcase for MoveOn, why have any local demonstrations? I asked. The barb flew over their heads like a Hank Aaron homer.

One of the leaders sat next to me, and during a lull in the clueless brainstorming process, I asked him what he did before retirement. He said he worked for a New York City municipal department. I mentioned the union associated with that area, and he mumbled that he actually was a supervisor and not a union member.

“Oh, so you were anti-union in those days,” I said, to which he — responded that he has since seen the error of his ways. Of course, thousands of dollars in salary and retirement benefits remain unchanged for him. In a sense, “Don’t ask me what I did then. Ask me what I do now!” Enough said. My closing question asked the purpose of the group’s demonstrations. Several members showed me a hand-made sign that read, “JOBS NOT CUTS!”

I don’t know how effective or efficient other branches of MoveOn are. I hope they are as lost as this one, but I wouldn’t bet on it. They are well-funded by George Soros and involved with riots and demonstrations around the world, including the ones in Israel and on Wall Street. Those are planned and efficient, with the support of the mainstream media hyping the events. Such protests can be considered training grounds for the civil unrest that might appear before the next elections — so Obama can step in to declare martial law and show his strength in times of criss.

I drove away from this group wondering what it wanted. These MoveOn members didn’t seem to know, either. None of them smiled or joked. Their brows were creased, and they appeared to be striving to make statements that showed how serious they were about doing anything to keep Obama in power. Not one of them drove a hybrid, and none told his/her story of poverty or unemployment. It is a curious group that requires monitoring. I will continue my “undercover” work, hoping to discover its big secret.
