Lois Frankel and Adam Hasner, former state legislators battling for the same congressional seat, addressed the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches Monday.
The District 22 seat was left open as a result of redistricting when Congressman Allen West filed to run in District 18, further north.
Even as both candidates verbalized their hope for “clean” politics without the typical campaign mudslinging, the Broward and Palm Beach County district promises to produce a fiercely competitive race.
Both candidates were allowed 10 minutes to summarize their platforms. Equal time was then given to answer questions prepared by audience members.
Hasner served in the stateHouse beginning in 2002, and as majority leader from 2007 to 2010. Frankel served 14 years in the Florida Legislature and eight years as mayor of West Palm Beach.
