Federal immigration law enforcement officials arrested and issued a detainer for an illegal immigrant in South Carolina on Tuesday after a minor he allegedly sexually assaulted was found giving birth in a parking lot.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials lodged a detainer for 43-year-old Mexican national Luis Armando Argueta Montejo after a female minor, reported to be between the ages of 11 and 14, was discovered in labor in the parking lot outside a hospital, according to a press release. Montejo was charged with incest and three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a child, the release stated.

The minor was accompanied by an unidentified female adult at the time, People Magazine reported.

“This sicko should NEVER have been in our country to prey on children in the first place,” acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis stated in the release. “He now faces charges for incest and multiple child sex crimes. Prior to these horrific crimes, this illegal alien lacked a criminal record in the U.S.”

Montejo reportedly told ICE officials that he entered the country in 2006 and that he had no previous criminal record.

A release from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office (OSCO) suggested that Montejo allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor over a span of three years. A paternal test is pending to determine if Montejo is the father of the child, People reported.

“Based upon evidence that was obtained during the investigation, and after presenting that evidence to a Judge, probable cause was established that determined that Montejo had engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim between 2022 and 2025,” the release stated in part.

The release also stated that the female minor and the newborn were placed in protective custody. Montejo is being held on an $80,000 bond at a South Carolina jail, with no public court date announced yet.

ICE agents have arrested several alleged child predators who illegally migrated into the United States. Five illegal aliens were arrested in a single day in March, which included a Jamaican national wanted on charges of incest in Pennsylvania. Several other alleged predators were arrested in Minnesota in January.
