‘They were laughing’: Harrowing video shows female store clerk being attacked by pack of thugs

A female gas station cashier in King County, Washington, was brutally beaten when a group of thugs robbed the Friendly Normandy Market where she worked.

Six suspects stormed the convenience store like a pack of animals on Friday night and one of them launched a relentless attack on the woman, later identified as Leah Johnston. While the thug wailed away at her, the other five can be seen in video footage robbing the store of cigarettes, cash, and other merchandise.

When Johnston collapsed, her assailant continued to punch and kick her as she cowered on the floor.

Johnston is recovering from the relentless assault and spoke with FOX 13, telling the affiliate the pack was “laughing” all the while.

“Kids don’t seem to fear anything anymore,” she said. “There’s like, no repercussions for them the way there used to be.”

“They were laughing. They had no [regard] for anything. They don’t care anymore,” Johnston added. “I know of people who have been robbed, I know in the back of my mind it can always happen. But I never thought that I would be attacked the way I was attacked. I mean, my face hurts. But my pride I think hurts more.”

The criminals got away with less than $100 in cash. They escaped in a stolen Kia and Hyundai and police later recovered both cars, but the suspects remain at large.

Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for info on the suspects.
