‘Sick to my stomach, outraged, disbelief’: Horses seen in video being dragged behind pickup

A horrific video out of Utah shows two horses tied to a pickup truck being dragged down a residential street.

Amberly Powers’ home security camera recorded the troubling scene, which took place earlier this month in Farmnington.

“It was just horrible to watch! The driver didn’t stop until he was at the stop sign, even when others were yelling at him to stop,” Powers said, according to KUTV.

The woman in the video with a long ponytail is Powers and she said the driver was unapologetic when she got closer to take a photo.

“This horse is stubborn!” the man purportedly said.

Don Evans, a neighbor, also caught footage of the incident on his surveillance cameras.

“Sick to my stomach, outraged, disbelief,” he told KUTV. “I have not seen this amount of reckless disregard in my life, it’s horrendous, there’s a lot of outrage in the community over this.”

Evans’ footage showed one of the horses being dragged on its side before an unknown bystander rushed to the animal’s aid and helped it back to its feet.

“Just the mindset and the lack of thought process that went into this is disturbing,” Evans said. “Several different options could have been approached but for whatever reason this individual thought this was the best option to fit his needs.”

Remarkably, the incident does not qualify as animal cruelty, KUTV reported, citing the Farmington Police Department. Animal Care of Davis County is conducting an investigation.
