Actress Drew Barrymore has yielded to the woke, leftist mob and backed down from continuing her show amid the Writers’ Guild strike.
“I have listened to everyone, and I am making the decision to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over. I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today,” she said in an Instagram statement Sunday.
“We really tried to find our way forward. And I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry soon,” she added.

As previously reported, Barrymore decided earlier this month to resume her talk show amid the strike.
“I am .. making the choice to come back for the first time in this strike for our show, that may have my name on it is but this is bigger than just me. I own this choice,” she said at the time in an Instagram post.

The decision prompted ginormous amounts of backlash — so much so that her friend, fellow actress Rosie O’Donnell — begged her to back down and apologize.
“Stop taping the show. Stop asking audiences to cross the picket line. Then ask someone to help you craft three declarative sentences,” O’Donnell said in an Instagram post of her own.
“They should follow along these lines: I made an error. I apologize to the WGA for disrespecting the work of professional writers. I apologize to all union members who are withstanding real hardship as I live a life of luxury,” she added.
Barrymore initially did follow the recommendation to some extent by issuing an apology to her writers and the union. However, she stuck with her decision to revive her show.
“I deeply apologize to writers. I deeply apologize to unions. I deeply apologize. I wanted to own a decision so that it wasn’t a PR-protected situation and I would just take full responsibility for my actions. I know there’s just nothing I can do that will make this okay for those it is not okay with,” she said.
“This is bigger than me, and there are other people’s jobs on the line. I want to just put one foot in front of the other and make a show that’s there for people, regardless of anything else that’s happening in the world,” she added.
But given her decision to stick with the show, the apology did little to quell the backlash:
Totally lost all respect for her

@drewbarrymore is as shallow as a birdbath.

I’ve always thought drew Barrymore seemed like a nice and pleasant person so it’s sad to find out she’s a worthless scab

You know, a 5-min conversation with someone outside her fantasy narcissism bubble could have prevented the whole deal.

never watched her show & now never will. she is wrong, she was an actress, comes from an acting family (the original greats) and this is how she treats her own union? nope.

Apologies don’t really ring true when you continue with the actions that cause the hurt. These types of videos are so disingenuous. Who is going to cross the picket to go on her show?
— Keith Grogan (@KeithGrogan) September 17, 2023
the only thing @drewbarrymore is saying in this video is that the world needs her show more than writers across an entire industry deserve to be paid a fair, living wage. she is a scab, full stop. and anyone who goes on her show is a scab, too. so awful. pic.twitter.com/tOYI7NV6Mc

It’s no surprise therefore that just a day after posting the apology video, she fully bent the knee and cancelled the return of her show.
The only good news is that her decision to bend the knee has inspired all her haters — the people who were calling her a “worthless scab” just seconds ago — to start praising her.
Observe:
Thank you, @DrewBarrymore, for listening and doing the right thing.

Thank you @DrewBarrymore It’s never too late to sit and listen to what your peers and colleagues are telling you. Standing in solidarity with all of you.

The question now though is whether it was worth it to sell out her dignity for the praise of people like this …
