Guatemala’s Prosecutor General Consuelo Porras is at the center of a storm that compels exposure of egregious actions by the State Department (DOS) and Biden regime. They have weaponized the US government with illegal actions abroad and need to face accountability from the House of Representatives.
Porras’s principles and courage contrast with DOS and regime corruption and totalitarianism, and she is no longer putting up with being maligned. On September 13, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) told the chairmen of the two congressional foreign-affairs committees that they had made “unfounded and malicious accusations” in their July 14 joint press release, adding to DOS’s “constant misinformation” against Guatemala.
The PGO said the “turmoil” DOS has caused with its deceit “requires a thorough investigation … to guarantee transparency.” That way the people of both countries “may know the truth.” The PGO offered its full cooperation with US congressional investigations.
DOS has led an effort to fraudulently install its handpicked communist candidate, Bernardo Arévalo of the Semilla party, as Guatemala’s next president in January. Pursuant to a 2022 complaint, the PGO has compiled indisputable evidence of fraud in Semilla’s registration. DOS is now attempting to circumvent the law to get Arévalo into the presidency.
Unlike in Ukraine with Viktor Shokin, Guatemala’s president cannot remove the prosecutor general. Still, DOS has led a coalition of international institutions in an information warfare campaign against Porras and her ministry.
Arévalo characterizes Porras applying the law as a coup and has called for her resignation. DOS’s slandering of Porras also serves as a warning to judges not to apply the law to Semilla.
The PGO said in its statement that DOS’s political and malicious sanctioning of a PGO official on July 19 undermines the PGO. This coerces officials into not completing their duties. The PGO uses the Justice Department, Drug Enforcement Agency, and other US agencies as references for its professionalism. These contradict false DOS accusations, and this cries out for investigations.
Senate Chairman Robert Menendez (D-NJ) supports the criminal permanent bureaucrats who run DOS. Like his party, the bureaucrats weaponize the government against their political opponents and put their friends above the law. However, House Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) put himself in conflict with House leadership’s commitment to expose that.
Guatemalans have been deceived by DOS’s slander of Porras. In addition, the business sector has largely been intimidated into acquiescence to DOS’s agenda to convert Guatemala into a centralized, collectivist state.
On July 1, after a petition by nine political parties, Guatemala’s highest court ordered the electoral authorities to review the ballot tallying. The plaintiffs supplied clear evidence showing the authorities had not complied, but the court ruled they had. The court has not processed challenges to the election, including one that has established 90 percent of the tally sheets did not meet legal requirements.
In 2015 and 2016, Biden and former Ambassador Todd Robinson took over Guatemala’s justice system. They did then what Biden does now at home: weaponize the government against political enemies and give friends immunity.
Robinson ruled Guatemala as proconsul, and Biden appointed him assistant secretary of state in 2021. Robinson, obsessed with ruling Guatemala, has managed the electoral fraud. His agency had contact with the electoral authority prior to the June 25 election, and the electoral authority colluded with Semilla. The PGO has been accumulating evidence despite fierce DOS slander.
The high court will likely have to rule on canceling Semilla, which would impede DOS’s agenda. Only some Guatemalans see through the DOS smokescreen and are willing to oppose it. Most do not understand the danger to themselves from arbitrarily applied law and will not resist. Unlike Porras, the high-court magistrates have shown they lack the commitment and principles to comply with their oaths of office. DOS is counting on magistrate malleability.
Porras has never been political. She is unquestionably the best prosecutor general in the last 50 years and probably ever in Guatemala’s history. After DOS lost control of Guatemala’s high court in 2021, Porras fired Juan Francisco Sandoval, who was the key executor of DOS’s agenda.
DOS promptly attacked and sanctioned Porras, accusing her of persecuting judges and prosecutors for fighting corruption. The evidence against them is public and overwhelming. Arévalo supports them, however, and DOS is counting on him to hide their crimes.
Porras has not waivered. She has followed the law wherever it takes her. If she were corrupt, as DOS claims, Porras would already have taken DOS incentives and avoided the incessant attacks.
In an amoral, Orwellian manner, DOS and Biden have turned the truth 180 degrees: night is day, up is down, lying is patriotic, truth is subversive, etc. They have turned the corrupt party into a victim and the honest prosecutor into the victimizer.
The House must accept Porras’s challenge to establish the facts. Investigations and hearings would expose egregious DOS criminality now and during the last 13 years.
Exposing DOS and Biden weaponization would complement and empower the Judiciary, Oversight, and Ways and Means committees’ efforts. It would strain and further expose the Biden regime’s obstruction and demonization strategy. It would help our national security and educate the public on the need to reform the unaccountable, out-of-control federal bureaucracy.
Porras is an example to Americans and Guatemalans of the kind of leaders we need to resist the amoral totalitarianism of those managing the Biden regime.
