Block party bloodbath in gun-controlled Dem city

A block party in Baltimore, Maryland, turned into a bloodbath in the early hours of Sunday morning, with 30 people shot, two of them fatally, despite the fact that the state ranks Number 8 in America for gun control measures.

According to the Associated Press, just after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, at least two shooters opened fire at a block party in the Brooklyn Homes area of Baltimore.

One witness described the horrifying scene as a “war zone,” ABC News reports.

The Baltimore Police Department identified the deceased victims as 18-year-old Aaliyah Gonzales, who was found dead at the scene, and 20-year-old Kylis Fagbemi, who was transported to the hospital where he later died.

At a Sunday afternoon press conference, Police Commissioner Richard Worley told reporters that the gunshot victims range in age from 13 to 32. Roughly 14 of the victims were under the age of 18.

“Our hearts and prayers continue to go out to the families, friends, this community, and our city as a whole,” Worley said. “Our officers continue to scour the large, very large, crime scene.”

“It was a war zone,” one witness identified only as “L.N.” told ABC News. “It was definitively a warzone.”

“This was a reckless, cowardly act of violence that has taken two lives and altered many, many more,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott. “We will find those who are responsible, and we will not stop until we do so.”

“This tragic incident is another glaring, unfortunate example of the deep issue of violence in Baltimore, in Maryland, and this country,” he continued. “It’s particularly gun violence and the access to illegal guns. This year alone, the Baltimore Police Department has seized 1,345 illegal guns that were in the hands of people that should not have them, that had them anyway because they’re so easy for them to obtain.”

But, as Breitbart noted, “Mike Bloomberg-affiliated Everytown for Gun Safety ranks Maryland the No. 8 state in the Union for gun control.”

“Gabby Giffords’ gun control group pointed out that Maryland has a red flag law, universal background checks, a ‘high capacity’ magazine ban, strict regulations on ‘ghost guns,’ an ‘assault weapons’ ban, and licensing requirements for handgun purchasers, among other controls,” the outlet reports.

L.N. told ABC News she was leaving the annual “Brooklyn Day” block party when she hear the shots ring out.

“I mean, it was it was loud,” she said. “It was messy, all these people were running around the building running everywhere. It was just … oh my god, all these young people running.”

L.N. transported two young women — both shot — to MedStar Harbor Hospital after they approached her and asked for help.

One of the victims, she recalled, “kept screaming every time I hit a bump.”

“I wanted them babies to be OK,” L.N. said. “They are babies. These are young people, very young people, that were out there.”

In a statement released on Twitter, Maryland Gov. Wes Moore, wrote, “Maryland has had enough of watching gun violence continue to ravage our state and our nation. The fact that these horrific shootings continue to take place is abominable. We as a state will continue to do everything we can to prevent senseless acts of violence like the one we saw last night.”

The statement was immediately met with backlash from those who pointed out the problems with Maryland’s existing gun policies.

“You know where the illegal guns are and who is using them,” replied conservative political commentator Mike Cernovich. “You won’t let police enforce the law.”

“Restricting lawful gun owners would NOT prevent this mass shooting. Even @MayorBMScott acknowledged this was perpetrated by criminals with illegally obtained firearms,” stated former Republican Maryland candidate Kimberly Klacik. “Please get with a 2nd Amendment advocate & attempt to learn a few things.”

And another Twitter user demanded to know, “How many legally-owned guns were being used to shoot people in Baltimore?”

The shooters, meanwhile, are still on the loose.

“If you saw anything or know anything, please call 911,” Commissioner Worley urged the Baltimore community.
