Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice called the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) move to label her parental rights organization an “extremist” group “absolutely absurd.”
“We are a group of moms and dads and grandparents and aunts and uncles, community members that are very concerned about the direction of the country,” Tiffany Justice told Fox News’s Harris Faulkner on Wednesday.

As BizPac Review reported, SPLC claimed Moms for Liberty and 1,224 other groups or organizations were hateful and against the government in the 2022 edition of its annual report titled, “The Year in Hate and Extremism.”
“These groups were, in part, spurred by the right-wing backlash to COVID-19 public safety measures in schools,” SPLC Intelligence Project director, Susan Corke, wrote. “But they have grown into an anti-student inclusion movement that targets any inclusive curriculum that contains discussions of race, discrimination and LGBTQ identities.”
“At the forefront of this mobilization is Moms for Liberty, a Florida-based group with vast connections to the GOP that this year the SPLC designated as an extremist group,” Corke continues. “They can be spotted at school board meetings across the country wearing shirts and carrying signs that declare, ‘We do NOT CO-PARENT with the GOVERNMENT.’ The group hijacks meetings, preventing officials and parents from conducting their normal proceedings.”
“Moms for Liberty activities make it clear that the group’s primary goals are to fuel right-wing hysteria and to make the world a less comfortable or safe place for certain students – primarily those who are Black, LGBTQ or who come from LGBTQ families,” she stated.

She suggested that SLPC is attempting to censor Moms for Liberty due to their growing “power” in communities across the nation.
“We’re very concerned about the failure that we’re seeing in America’s public schools,” Justice told Faulkner. “Our kids deserve to learn to read in school. And you know, Harris, we’re upsetting the balance of power in public education, and I think what you’re seeing is an orchestrated attempt to stop our voices.”
According to its website, “Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government.”
Justice says the group isn’t about to back down.
“We’re going to keep doing the work that we do across the country,” she vowed.
“We’re set up by chapters. We have over 120,000 members,” Justice said. “And if you talk to the moms and dads on the ground, they’re concerned about some of the things that they’re seeing taught in schools. They’re concerned about the fact that not every American child is learning to read in school. So we’re going to keep focused on our mission of getting liberty-minded individuals elected to school board[s] and ensuring that parental rights are protected at every level of government.”

Justice said her group is “exploring” legal “options” with respect to SLPC’s smear.
“I think we’re exploring a lot of different options to take, but the focus is really on the children,” she said. “Our concern, Harris, is this: We watched as the Biden Administration worked with the NSBA [National School Board Administration] to have the Department of Justice label parents domestic terrorists.”
“I spoke and testified in front of Congress about the fact the FBI had contacted one of our moms,” she continued. “Now we’re watching again as another organization is labeling groups as hate groups.”
In the end, however, Justice says, “We are Joyful Warriors. We’re not going to stop.”
“I mean, no one’s going to fight for anything like a parent’s going to fight for their child,” Justice stated. “And, you know, we are moms and dads that are concerned about the future of the country.”
