More than 200 LGBTQ+ groups order Target to put ‘Pride’ gear back; reaffirm ‘commitment’ within 24 hrs

Big Gay is foot-stomping mad that Target has spoiled their very special month by removing “Pride” merchandise from shelves and more than 200 left-wing and LGBTQ+ groups have given the retail giant 24 hours to put it back.

The coalition, which is spearheaded by the Human Rights Campaign, the most powerful LGBTQ+ lobbying organization in the country, issued a statement calling for “Target and the business community to reject and speak out against anti-LGBTQ+ extremism going into Pride Month,” claiming that the customer anger over the promotion and sale of merchandise endorsing transgenderism and homosexuality – especially to children – is putting members of the LGBTQ+ community at risk of violence, a predictable and tiresome accusation that has been perfected by the organized left and flung about with great effectiveness.

“Recent pushback against businesses such as Anheuser-Busch and Target, blatantly organized by extremist groups, serves as a wake-up call for all businesses that support the LGBTQ+ community,” the statement reads. “We’ve seen this extremist playbook of attacks before. Their goal is clear: to prevent LGBTQ+ inclusion and representation, silence our allies and make our community invisible. These attacks fuel hate against LGBTQ+ people, just as we’ve seen this year with more than 500 anti-LGBTQ+ bills that restrict basic freedoms and aim to erase LGBTQ+ people.”

Also included in the coalition of aggrieved activist organizations are GLAAD, the National Black Justice  Coalition, UltraViolet, and GLSEN, a group that has been criticized for pushing schools to allow secret gender changes for kids.

Along with its statement, the coalition lists three specific demands for Target to “release a public statement in the next 24 hours reaffirming their commitment to the LGBTQ+ community,” put Pride merchandise back on the sales floor and online in full,” and “ensure safety of team members who are on the front lines.”

Faced with an unexpected and intense backlash over pictures and videos of the “tuck friendly” women’s bathing suits with “extra crotch coverage” for dudes to accommodate their packages as well as other homosexual-themed items, including merchandise specifically targeting children, the big-box retailer sought to mitigate the damage to its brand by moving the rainbow-festooned displays from the front of some stores to less visible locations, a perfectly reasonable reaction but one that only served to infuriate the relentlessly aggressive movement that insists upon complete and total compliance with the in-your-face flaunting of its sexuality.

“When it comes to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion, there is no such thing as neutrality,” the coalition’s statement reads.

“Extremist attacks and harassment of businesses for standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and values of diversity, equity and inclusion have challenged Target, and businesses more broadly, to lead – to demonstrate they mean what they say when investing in and standing with LGBTQ+ people, creatives, and organizations. Businesses must continue to lead and respond with unwavering support for LGBTQ+ employees, shareholders, customers, allies – and the broader community. When values of diversity, equity and inclusion are tested, businesses must defend them unequivocally,” the statement reads.

The coalition adds, “At this moment, it’s critical that Target champions equity and inclusion as it has for over a decade. Target consistently tops the list for brands that show genuine, authentic support of the LGBTQ+ community through outreach and policies. Target received recognition for outstanding commitment to DEI from the Executive Leadership Council in 2022. It’s time to prove the recognition was earned.”

The pushback against the relentlessness of Big Gay has spooked the Human Rights Campaign which just declared its first-ever “national state of emergency” in a move that reeks of panic that the movement is at a critical point before its advancement stalls, something that must not be allowed under any circumstances.

“LGBTQ+ Americans are living in a state of emergency. The multiplying threats facing millions in our community are not just perceived — they are real, tangible and dangerous,” HRC president, Kelley Robinson, said, according to CNN. “In many cases they are resulting in violence against LGBTQ+ people, forcing families to uproot their lives and flee their homes in search of safer states, and triggering a tidal wave of increased homophobia and transphobia that puts the safety of each and every one of us at risk.”

“Target, and all businesses, can leverage the support of LGBTQ+ organizations to navigate this hate, so that together, we can let extremists know unequivocally that, just as with every other failed anti-LGBTQ+ campaign of the past, fear will not win,” the coalition statement reads.
