Maryland Dem: Gender ideology puts ‘some Muslim families on the same side of an issue as white supremacists’

A Maryland county councilwoman followed statements from Muslim youths by lumping them with “bigots” and “white supremacists” over their concerns about transgenderism in their classrooms.

Tolerance remained a one-way street for activist Montgomery County Councilmember Kristin Mink (D) Tuesday when she was offered a platform to speak during the board of education’s meeting. The focus of public comment centered on the inclusion of texts and discussions of gender ideology that parents were prohibited from opting out of.

When it was her time to speak, Mink began her remarks by contending, “This issue has unfortunately put — does put…some Muslim families on the same side of an issue as white supremacists and outright bigots.”

After presenting that incendiary position, she attempted to temper herself by ruling out those she had spoken with at the board meeting whom she said, “I would not put in the same category as those folks, although, you know, it’s complicated because they’re falling on the same side of this particular issue.”

Mink, who prominently displayed banners promoting the various rainbow-themed standards of the LGBT-etc. populous and offered up alternative pronoun options to refer to her by, “she/her/hers” in one case and “she/her/ella” in the other, made her statement immediately after a number of current and former Muslim students came forward to voice their concerns about the forced curriculum violating their faith.

“That’s not an infringement on, you know, particular religious freedoms,” the Council’s Lead for Libraries argued of not being permitted to opt-out of lessons that pushed gender ideology, “just as we cannot allow folks to opt out of teaching about evolution.”

Students like Sa’ad argued to the contrary as he said, “I’m here to talk about my rights. My religion teaches to respect all religions and all human beings and their rights. So does my country’s law. And I want my right back to have an opt-out option.”

Ibrahim Raziuddin, a 2023 graduate, spoke for those too young to know what was being forced on them and said, “I am here to testify on behalf of my elementary-age cousins.”

“Although the introduction of texts and discussions related to transgenderism and LGBTQ+ may support MCPS’s mission to be all-inclusive…I don’t believe my first-grade and third-grade cousins are prepared to read and discuss such issues,” Raziuddin contended, likening the weight of the sexual content to teaching advanced math to kindergartners.

Yasmeen Elkoshairi, another former MCPS student, leveled, “Freedom of religion is a fundamental human right that protects the conscience of all people. It allows us to think, express and act upon what we deeply believe. But around the world and in the United States, this freedom is eroding.”

Meanwhile, another statement was read on behalf of a Muslim student that said in part, “Restoring the opt-out choice does not encourage bigotry or a lack of comprehension. It promotes respect and inclusivity by honoring students’ religious convictions.”

Reacting to Mink’s comment directly, Ismail Royer, the director of the Islam and Religious Freedom Action Team for the Religious Freedom Institute told Fox News Digital, “I was shocked. I was absolutely stunned. That’s the last thing that I thought she was going to say. In fact, the Muslims don’t hate anyone.”

Royer told the outlet that Muslim parents educate their youth on tolerance of all individuals, but that was not the same as being subjected to an agenda contrary to their beliefs.

The demand by alphabet activists to be featured, not just accepted, recently played out in the boycott of Target over their “pride collection” as a coalition of over 200 leftist organizations demanded the retailer resume sales of the transgenderist merchandise and return displays back to a focal point in their stores with an apology and an affirmation of their “commitment to the LGBTQ+ community,” read fealty.
